Love Our Cats (Poor Henry)

We love our cats. It's not Henry's FAULT that we got home after a long and tiring day at work and had to deal with his massive poop-y accident. What an awful, awful mess it was! On the carpet and on HIM. It was ages to clean up.

Marilyn and I decided it was the food. We couldn't get their usual stuff recently. We get a certain kind, the Indoor type. We got that brand, but it wasn't the Indoor recipe. They didn't take to it all that well. But Henry's illness makes him hungry all the time, and he eats and eats. This looked like it might be richer, so little wonder it gave him the bad runs. Heavens, what a smell.

I also scooped out their boxes, in case the nasty runs was there, too... (ugh)

So we went off to Freddies to get food and some additional cleaning products (just in case). Believe me, we'd already stopped at Safeway on the way home, so the last thing we wanted to do was go back to another store. But the cats had to have food, so what were we going to do?

I ate dinner when we got back. Now I'm blogging. We're both really tired, so I think we both wish we were napping.

And the goal is to get to bed early (for us), if we can.

I'm staying home tomorrow and have an appointment for a hair cut -- about time! Sister Sue is kindly going to take me.

Marilyn has a quiet day (for her) tomorrow. But Thursday and Friday are crazy days for her -- so it seems fair she should have one day during the week that isn't that bad. (I hope it turns out to be true...)

Had lunch today with Rich. Donn came in and worked for several hours. We got PRFA88 set up. (I need to vet it, but I feel pretty good about it.) I wasted time trying to add software to Angel's computer. He needs a NEW (well, used -- but new for him) machine. I think I have an idea about that. We'll see!

And Kris came in briefly this afternoon (totally unexpected).

Did a bit more work on the Franklin website. Maybe I can focus on that tomorrow.

Sister Sue's birthday is Friday -- but she's going to be out of town that day and over the weekend. Maybe I can take her lunch tomorrow or something...

Staff meeting was fine. Jeff gave a little speech about all the work I'd done on the website (and the entire history of why I ended up as Webmaster in the first place). I managed not to cry (smile). And the whole room cheered and clapped for me. Plus this was amazing: Jeff gave me a card and a Starbucks gift card as a present! ($50!!!) What a lovely surprise.

I feel like this is missing stuff, but I'm too tired to concentrate...

busy caesar, busy

At the Office

Marilyn mistressmarilyn and I did sleep until past noon today, which was marvelous. (That bug has really exhausted us...)

Anyway, this afternoon we came in to the festival office, to get some work done. As it's now past 9:00 p.m., so you can see we were serious about that goal!

Not surprisingly, Marilyn is swamped. When she's out even for a day, she comes back to tons of emails and voice mails, aside from other work. Missing days last week already have her busy, so I can only imagine what it'll be like when she gets back from two weeks off!

I did quickly (and easily) add the essential 501(c)(3) nonprofit tag to our website footer, anyway. That's one task I can check off my list! (smile)

Collapse ) So that's another item I can check off my list!

Oh, and I added a 'Donation' callout box to the Home page, too -- so that's item number three I can check off...

In the To Do category, I still need to make a new Home page banner, so I'll need to give that some thought.

Naturally, the minute I get in here, I've get other tasks that keep me from any list of work I might have. But that's cool. Multi-tasking is certainly an important part of special events work.

We did treat ourselves and have Starbucks today. I added to my Starbucks card, and we both got a beverage and snack -- thankfully, as that's all we've eaten all day. We'll have some late supper when we get home, though. We've got leftover hot dogs and chili, so it's all good.

When it Rains . . . Yeah.

. . . it certainly pours.

Remember Scarlett's vet appointment?

I took her in on Tuesday -- and she was so shook up (poor little thing) that she almost managed to tear her way out of the cardboard cat carrier. (Which is something no other cat I've ever owned has come close to managing, for the record!)

She's lost two pounds since she was last in to the vet in April 2006.

That might not sound much for a person, but she only weighs a little over four pounds right now -- so that's almost half her current body weight!

And waiting for the results of the test yesterday? Not a good thing. I was told he'd phone me -- but when I hadn't heard anything by 4:30 p.m., I called the office. I was told he'd been in surgery all day (Wednesday is always his surgery day -- has been forever) and that he'd call me in 'the evening.' As we didn't get the actual call until 7:30, I'd say that decidedly the evening!

I'm holding Scarlett on my lap right now, by the way.

Marilyn just phoned to tell me she'd lost her Starbucks card.

No big deal? Well, it's a vintage card that she's had forever and really loves. It can't be replaced, in other words. And she just put $50 on it yesterday, so that's like losing $50 in cash (which we really can't afford to lose). But as she said to me, it's the loss of that special card that has her bummed out...

EDIT: She found it in her bag! Thank heaven!

About work... (sigh)

We've got ants in the house. In the office and upstairs (my) bathroom. And sometimes in the kitchen. In February. We never have ants in February! I have no idea what gives, but I suppose I need to do something about it soon...

I've got some new health issue going on...

Collapse )

And I think I'm currently fighting off a cold. I haven't given in at present -- and hope that I'll be able to stay healthy (in spite of what I just described, I mean).

I've been able to ride my bike recently, which is a good thing.

Of course the last few days it's been too cold to do more than go out to feed the birds! Winter is back for now. Brr!

I haven't written anything recently -- but I need to get with it, as our Writing Circle is meeting on Monday night next week! (yikes) So I need 2,000 plus words on our topic done by then...

The last time we met Dick wasn't there -- as he was down in New Orleans with Habitat for Humanity. I'm sure he'll have a lot of stories to tell us about his experience! As Marilyn and I both love New Orleans, we're anxious to know more about the situation on a firsthand basis...

I need to do some actual work now, so I'm finally going to end (aren't you relieved???)... I have that PowerPoint presentation to do, a work-related blog to add to and some emails to send out. (Not to mention housework that needs attending -- but what the hell it can wait! Or not -- as I've got company here Monday night! And we do plan to go in to work one day this weekend...) Best get busy!
