charlie sick, sick in bed

Really Sick...

Marilyn told me to 'stay down' and 'take it easy' today, for which I'm actually very grateful. I was miserable last night, and having trouble sleeping. And when I did sleep, I was having weird dreams, which I feel are due to the meds. Oh well, nightmares aren't going to kill me! Hahaha.

I really stayed in bed most of the day. I sat up to do some work, though, but very little.

Around 1:00 I got up and started the recycling. Very. Slowly. I've just been so puny today. I got it all gathered and out in the roll bin. And I did the cat boxes. I gathered most of the garbage in a bag, but not all.

Marilyn found out about a meeting at Rooster Rock this morning with barely enough time to get there -- but she and Rich headed out and made it in time. She said it was a lovely drive.

I have to admit I don't know when Marilyn actually came home from work tonight, but it was before 7:00 (as I was making dinner then -- and she was home at that point). We had fish and green beans for dinner, with cottage cheese and coffee. Yummy.

I finally got the recycling to the curb late. I still need to put the garbage out, though.

We watched Australian Open tennis. And The Biggest Loser finals was tonight.

Fitbit Update: Clearly I didn't make my goal today, But I did make 2,375 steps -- pretty good considering how LOuSY i feel! I'm not sure I have the right number for Marilyn, but I know she made her goal (5,00), and I think it was 5,415.

Just managing to gather garbage and put how the recycling was all I could do today. I literally slept almost all day long. When I was awake, I read. And that was it...

Donn is going in tomorrow to set up the Profiles for me. I just can't face it.

I'm sitting here watching Blue Bloods, while Marilyn is sleeping. Both cats (Colin and Henry) are sleeping, too.

A Very Quiet Day, Mostly...

Pretty much a nothing day, which was just fine by me. (Still not feeling great, but I'll need to be patient about this pain, it's clear...)

Marilyn and I did a whole lot of nothing, for the most part. Although we did work on our work-related email. And I was in touch with Donn about work projects, plus my friend June's computer (which included digging up a couple of my mice to try and help out with the issues with her own -- a different mouse I gave her in the past).

Donn and I did have various lengthy discussions. So much IT to worry about right now...

Still having trouble sleeping. The meds have me pretty messed up. One causes insomnia and one makes you drowsy and dizzy. I'm sleeping during very weird hours of the day, and not sleeping much of the time. It's okay. In another few days (a week?), I should be back to normal -- whatever that is!

We had a pizza for dinner! Fun! We always say things like that are: Like a party! Hahaha.

We watched a "Blue Bloods" marathon on TV. Just love that show! Superior writing, acting and direction. I highly recommend it, even if you're not into police dramas.

Sister Sue was off to see her friend Nancy and stay overnight there. She wants to get together tomorrow night...

Donn said he did more work on June's computer, which is a good thing.

And that's my Saturday.

Holiday Dinner Out!

Marilyn and I weren't feeling well again today. We had errands to run, but we were just too icky and worn out to get to them. So we stayed in until time to go out for dinner.

We were both sound asleep when sister Sue got to the house at 6:00 for our 6:30 dinner. We dashed around and pulled ourselves together. Sue and I got to chat while I was dressing and putting on makeup (Marilyn was getting ready downstairs).

I phoned June and Jim, so they could drive over and meet us at the restaurant, Lung Fung's on Lombard (very close by). The five of us sat at a table and Marilyn and I showed everyone photos from painting with the staff on Friday.

We had a nice dinner. Everybody ordered different things, but I think we all equally enjoyed our meals. Plus we very much enjoyed the company!

Marilyn kindly paid for our meal.

After that, we came home and watched some of "The Sound of Music" Sing-Along that was on tonight. But we needed to go shopping, so we headed to Riteaid, where we got more gift cards before they immediately closed. We also went to Freddies and Walgreens, and bought several things. So Marilyn has a gift for Summer for tomorrow, when she goes to her hair appointment.

I'm hoping maybe I can get sister Sue to take me a couple of places tomorrow. I guess we'll see if she has time.

We're sitting and watching TV right now.

Not a very exciting day, but we enjoyed it. Today was the fourth and final Sunday of Advent (the third purple candle, for those with Advent wreaths -- the white candle is lit on Christmas Eve).

We love "Blue Bloods" and are watching it right now.

Bed soon, I think.

Pedicures and Manicures -- "Blue Bloods"

Marilyn has gotten us started watching a new (for us) TV show, Blue Bloods," which started Season 5 this past September. I'm surprised that we didn't always watch it for several reasons: We've always been Tom Selleck fans, we love family dramas and we've always liked cop shows. And this is a good show, with good writing, good casting and good direction.

Naturally, I can't help comparing it to "Revenge." Sorry, "Revenge," you wish!

So we've been watching old episodes, and enjoying them a ton. You know, Tom Selleck is one hell of a fine act! We've been watching him since he appeared on "The Rockford Files" in the episode "White on White and Nearly Perfect." We loved him on "Magnum, P.I." (1980-1988). He aged great, too.

"Blue Bloods" is old-school TV in the best meaning of the term. It's a delight to watch. Which shows how much fun it is to discover a show that's been on for several seasons. We like watchig lots of episodes to 'catch up' with a series...

Today was another day sleeping in. I just can't seem to shake the end of this damn bug! I can't say how sad I feel to be facing our Toy Drive without a singing voice! Getting to sing with the choir last year was a huge pleasure -- a real highlight for me! This nasty, nasty bug just sucks so much!

Marilyn and I finally got over to have our pedicures and manicures done. I got a coppery color on my toes, with a copper-based glitter on top. Really pretty! Marilyn got a blue-ish glitter on her toes. And she got a lovely platinum on her fingers. I got a wine-colored red on my fingers, that has a slightly blue-ish cast to it. The manicurist wanted to put snowflakes on, and she was so excited to do it that I finally agreed (it cost an extra $10, but it took her a lot of extra time, and is actual art). Yes, as Marilyn pointed out, these women are pressed by management to get us to spend more money. But what she created is amazing! Hand-drawn and so careful. She put snowmen on both thumbs, which surprised me (she hadn't said she was doing it). You should have seen her doing the work! I as an art student and painted myself, so I appreciate talent and skill when I see it.

We stopped at Target (of all places) and did some shopping. We got enough things so if we didn't later go out to Freddies or Walmart, we'd be fine. Good thing, too! Because of course I came home, had a bite to eat and slept again for hours! But at least we have pop and medicine and so on.

I had planned to go to work tomorrow, but Marilyn convinced me to stay home. Maybe another day taking it easy will help. I was in a terrible sweat and shaking and puny while at the nail shop, and then shopping, so...

Before I entirely forget, Donn was at the office today to make sure there was a smooth transition for Shelley with her new OS. He's done a GREAT job, and she's up and running with Windows 7.

Anyway, I'll go in for the Toy Drive on Wednesday. It's always a very big day.
