This is hardly the way I expected to start off the New Year, but when I walked outside this morning I discovered our outdoor tree was GONE!
Neighbors June and Jim (next door) had their white lighted deer taken, as well. I spoke with them while outside. There was a piece of a plastic candy cane lying in our yard, clearly from some other house somewhere...
Outdoor Christmas Tree
Our lighted tree in the front yard... GONE now...
I was so surprised to find it gone I literally tripped and almost fell down flat in the yard! June told me the items were gone when they'd headed to church at 9:00 a.m. They'd been outside just past midnight when we were out greeting the New Year -- so someone nabbed them between those hours...
Marilyn and I headed off with sister Sue for a lovely drive to the beach (Seaside, Oregon), leaving this negative situation behind us. I guess people are either desperate or unkind -- hard to say which. I'm pretty DONE with having things taken (like packages -- and recently mail from the mailbox), but what can we do?
As Marilyn said, at least we got to enjoy the tree both last Christmas and this Christmas -- and they didn't take it until after the holiday was over.
Still, it's crummy that someone took it, period. I loved that pretty little tree! (sigh) But I'm NOT going to dwell on it -- because that's not MY official start to this year.
Anyway, the weather here is lovely, warm (!!!) and dry -- and was the same at the beach. We had a great ride and a good time. It was a fun way to start 2012.
