Not Feeling Well...

Marilyn started to get ill last night, and stayed home from work today. I didn't feel awful today, just somewhat lousy, I guess. Enough to be cranky and out-of-sorts, anyway. I ended up with the runs (yes, again) tonight. I've been dealing with that on and off all week, I'm afraid...

In spite of not feeling that great yesterday (Wednesday), I spent my morning cooking for several hours. I made a casserole to take to the Staff potluck (for Marilyn), plus several pots of curry noodles (two for Candy and the family to have). Sue and Nicole came by and took me to the office with the food, where I got to see everyone in their 'ugly' holiday sweaters (part of the potluck theme).

Later in the day I had my dental appointment (originally scheduled for 4:15, which they changed to 3:15). The nice part was Marilyn getting off work early to take me, meaning she was home from work early -- which seriously never happens.

Mary (my dentist) let me pick which tooth to work on. I'd been nauseous during the day and almost cancelled, but decided to stick it out (I've got so much work that needs doing right now). We went with a tooth in front to avoid gagging (etc.). I had one where I'd broken the filling and that had been giving me fits for more than a year (at least). This was one of the teeth Mary had worried might need a root canal, by the way...

I'm really NOT bothered by the pain of shots -- or even pain from the work. I used to be a huge baby about it years ago, but I've gotten over the fear of pain long ago. (Good thing, considering the amount of pain I deal with daily -- but that's another story that doesn't much matter...)

Mary started to warn me about the tooth as she was working on it, that it might still end up needing a root canal. It really started to HURT part way through -- that deep throbbing hurt that goes with your heartbeat, if you follow me. But she put that medicine directly inside and sealed it and the pain stopped immediately. It was amazingly, like a miracle! By the way, I pray a lot during dental work. I pray for Mary (and Holly, too, when she assists). I pray the work will go well and be beneficial, but not necessarily that it will be pain free or anything. Sometimes I just 'chant' mentally: "God bless you." (Over and over again. It's quite soothingly, really.)

Mary told me during the work that I would absolutely need a root canal. Now I'm on 'problem' watch with this tooth -- I have four prescriptions to deal with issues, starting with major pain pills. Marilyn and I are both hopeful antibiotics won't be necessary (yet again), as they make me so ill now...

It's almost 10:30 p.m. of the following day and I'm yet to take a single pill for pain. What a blessing! I have the taste of 'medicine' in my mouth (I think coming into the blood stream from the root of the tooth she treated), which is nasty. And some pain from being 'bruised' during with the second shot. But that's mostly it.

Hard to know if I feel crummy today partly because of that -- or simply because I've been fighting some bug all week...

I'm sorry Marilyn got sick. The two of us have spent much of the day in bed, actually. It would be nice not to be sick for Christmas.

Marilyn and I just watched the movie (remake) of "Fright Night" -- which was only okay. We were both huge fans of the ORIGINAL film, by the way. Disappointing, anyway -- I really don't recommend it. (But if you get a chance to see the 1985 movie with William Ragsdale, Chris Sarandon, the fabulous Roddy McDowall and Amanda Bearse, be sure to give it a go!)

We're excited that "Abduction" is available On Demand (prior to going to DVD in January). We love that movie.

The SNL Christmas show is available On Demand, so we might watch that next...

In cleaning in our home office, I discovered two HUGE boxes of paperback books in the closet (!!!). Inside where several books I'd been hunting for recently! For months. (smile) Anyway, we got rid of many/most of the books, which is a good thing. But we did keep some, which appear to be out of print (and not available on Kindle, needless to say)...

Sister Sue had to go for more tests today. And they screwed up and didn't take a urine sample, EVEN though she ASKED THEM if they needed one (!!!). Really? Marilyn said they could just wait for the damn sample, and I'm with her. Poor Sue!

Henry got sick today. Not to be too gross, but when he threw up it sounded like a bucket of water had been dumped on the floor. (sigh) He seems better tonight, anyway, and has eaten since then and kept it down fine. We're so glad he's doing so well. After all, last year we spent Christmas day at the emergency vet with him...

Tomorrow is Shari's birthday. She's gone from the hospital to a rehab center. We're hoping to go and see her, if we're both up to it...

I need to go do the recycling and composting (and put out the garbage in the garage, as it's not garbage week). I'm dragging my feet, but I do need to get to it. (sigh) I just don't feel like it, to be honest. But as soon as I've finished with this, I'm off...
