Halloween 2011

H A P P Y    H A L L O W E E N !!!

Sister Sue came over around 5:00 p.m. to join Marilyn and me for our Halloween celebration, which is pretty low key. We had our 'traditional' food: Hot dogs, spicy chili, many chips and snacks, donuts and loads of candy. Yummy!

We were decorated inside and out. Good thing I did decorate outside, as otherwise I don't think we would have had any kids (!!!) at all. Seriously!

We're the ONLY house that is lit on our side of the street. (I won't go there and say what I think of neighbors who won't hand out candy to kids -- but if I did you'd be getting an earful, believe me.) The other side of the street has several houses in a row that participate. And I'm not kidding when I say that dozens of kids wouldn't bother to cross the street in order to come to our house! Really??? What a bummer...

Happily, we did manage to get 65 kids, which beats last year (when we only had 46). So I'm not going to complain! We were glad to get them.

I did a bunch of photos to share here -- and carefully wrote up detailed descriptions of every single photo. Guess what? LiveJournal DUMPED most of those!!! Why the hell is that? I'm pretty annoyed that I wasted so much time. (big sigh)

Anyway, here's the LINK to our 2011 Halloween Photo Gallery, with some of the descriptions still there.

I had told which items Marilyn and I have had since childhood or high school, which things were given to us by whom, what belonged to Mom (some before we were born) and so on -- but disgustingly it's not all there. Maybe I'll try again with the descriptions later, but I did attempt it a second time with the same results, so I don't feel too happy about the idea...

The photos turned out pretty nice, anyway! If I ever get the energy, I could post these inside an entry and describe them there, I guess. But I always seem to promise to do that and never quite get around to it! Bad, bad, Charlie.

Marilyn and I are getting ready to head out shopping to WalMart. We want to pick up the "Water For Elephants" DVD which comes out at midnight tonight.

It didn't rain tonight (woo hoo), but it was COLD! The furnace is running like mad right now. (smile) I don't know if I ever mentioned it, but I've been running the furnace for the past week. No waiting for November this year, that's for sure!

I hope you all had a good Halloween! It's hard to believe we're almost to the end of 2011. What an amazing year!
