Busy and COLD Day at the Office -- AND I Got My Kindle Today!

We were all FREEZING today at the office! The entire building was terribly cold. This does NOT come as a surprise to me, because Dave from Trane told me weeks and weeks ago that we wouldn't be able to turn on the heat when it got cold, as a part was broken. And Marilyn and Ashley turned around immediately and told the guy from the City (the City of Portland is our landlord, basically) exactly what was said.

So they FINALLY send a guy late today -- and then he's up on the roof in the pouring rain as it gets dark, so of course he needs to do the work tomorrow morning... Surprise! (The door to the roof is right by my space at work, so you can figure how lovely it was there while he was outside with the door propped open. (sigh)

Hey, they knew in plenty of time to fix this while it was dry and sunny, so it's hard to be sympathetic.

The coldest place today? Marilyn's office. You could have put ice cream on her desk and it wouldn't have thawed a bit. I suppose it's all the windows. Or it might be the fact that there was COLD AIR from the AC running in there! The guy tried to tell us her room was set to 54° -- right, dude! Because she wanted to turn into ice.

Kris was by to do work on her computer and couldn't wait to leave! And she was trying to WORK in there. None of the rest of us could stand to be in there for more than a few minutes... (Wow, Marilyn is tough.)

Anyway, I'm pretty excited, because I got my Kindle today!!! (woo hoo)

ETA (edited to add): For those wondering (who didn't click my link above), I got this one:

Kindle 3G Wireless Reading Device, Free 3G + Wi-Fi, 3G Works Globally, 6" Display - with New E Ink (Pearl) Technology

Photo share!

Yes, it really is that small. It's very light and easy to read and cool. I'm still learning how to use it, but it seems pretty basic to me. In fact, I was reading before I stopped to post this, and I'll go back to reading it soon.

I've downloaded a bunch of FREE books (cyber books) -- many from Amazon. There are tons of public domain books available, even though I'm already finding books I'll want to buy.

I think this was a great buy -- and I'm excited to learn all about it. The free built-in WiFi means I can download to it from anywhere, if you can believe that! How awesome is that?

Marilyn and I came home and had delicious leftovers (including acorn/danish squash, roast beef hash and more) for dinner -- which we both loved. And a pot of coffee (with some peanut butter cookies). Comfort food is great after a day like today!

I've hit the wall. I didn't sleep well (as I mentioned before) and haven't felt well today (same old, same old). So I'm ready for a nap.

Sister Sue phoned about tomorrow and Costco, but I'm going to wait until morning to see how I feel...

Henry looks ready for a nap, too -- and I suspect Colin will be, also. So I'm off. I can read my Kindle until I fall asleep...

Kindle!!! How awesome is that??? I'm really excited.
