2010 U.S. Open Tennis Update!

Kim Clijsters beat Vera Zvonareva 6-2, 6-1 in the Women's Singles Final of the U.S. Open. I like Kim and am glad for her. (Actually, I like Vera okay, too...)

Roger Federer went OUT today to Novak Djokovic in a grueling five-setter (5-7, 6-1, 5-7, 6-2, 7-5). Painful. (No, I'm not a Djokovic fan. I don't hate the man or anything, I just don't like him. Big baby.) And I'm a big Federer fan, for the record. Of course, I'm also a big Rafa Madal fan, so I hope he wins tomorrow in the finals!

Marilyn and I hung around the house to see the end of Roger's match (which took forever), before going for a ride -- and dinner! (Pizza in the The Dalles, Oregon, at Spooky's.)

This joint is totally PACKED (almost every table and booth is full) -- and Dorothy, the 80-something 'Piano Lady' is here playing away! She's AMAZING. Marilyn and I immediately tipped her and managed to both speak to her while she was on a (very short) break. We've been here more than an hour and she barely stops at all! You should hear the ambient noise here. I'm not kidding, this joint is jumpin'!!! (I'll try and share a photo of Dorothy later, after I've downloaded my camera.)

Marilyn is working on research for a fanfic she's working on, and we discussed it on the way here. It's set at the turn of the century (early 1900's), and sounds FASCINATING to me! Marilyn always does incredible research for her writing, and she's already done a ton for this. I can't wait to read the final as-yet-unstarted project.

The drive up was LOVELY -- we opted not to go to the beach, because we felt like chasing the sun. It's blue skies, very breezy and warm. Indian Summer all over, I think.

Back to our pitcher of beer and pizza!
