For our lunch break today, Marilyn mistressmarilyn and I took a drive down to Sauvie Island (something we love to do).
As we were driving along admiring the LOVELY weather -- deep blue skies, sunshine and mild enough for me to take OFF my jacket -- I noticed a new born calf in a field!
So we turned around, pulled over and grabbed our cameras! Then we walked over and got some shots. Seriously, the baby was still damp (and if you look carefully you can see the umbilical cord hanging from Mommy cow) and barely able to get his feet under him!
What a wonderful thing! Spring is truly close and new life is always a happy sign of that fact.
Photo share!
A Sauvie Island farm -- this is their mailbox. Clever, isn't it?
The new born calf lies on the ground by mommy cow.
Looks like he's trying to get a leg under himself.
Trying to get up.
Still trying!
He made it!
Mom really wants to clean him up...
Wobbly all over the place.
"Where are you going, son?"
More licking.
"Watching us isn't much help..." Poor Mama!
"You've got a dirty butt."
"I love you, Baby!"
Her friends aren't paying any attention to her...
The farm is lovely today! Perfect blue skies and sunshine. A great day to be born!
I'm so glad we went back to check it out (thanks, Marilyn!). It makes me so happy to look at these pictures...

Brutal Day -- But Happy Ending.
