2010 Winter Olympics -- Amazing Opening Ceremonies!

I thought the 2010 Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony was the most amazing I've ever seen. In fact, it's one of the most amazing performances I've ever seen, period.

If you didn't see, I feel bad for you. I really do.

I'm going to stick some photos here, just so I can remember it clearly in future years! (smile)

I loved the entire show, but the parts I liked best included the aboriginals dancing (dancing and dancing more) -- all during the March of Nations! The boy who 'ran' (and flew) on in fields was INCREDIBLE! (That new harness and technique was something else, and used more than once.) The 16-year-old jazz singer who did the Canadian national anthem was powerful. I loved almost all the musical performances, too. The snow effects, the floor turned from snow to ocean and on and on was so wonderful. And the ice effects and totems and trees and mountains! Wow. Just wow.

Who cares if the one column didn't come up? It didn't really matter. Overall, I think the entire program rates a 10 (plus)!!!

Here's a photo share!

Yes, I'm still infuriated by the time zone thing. So, of course, our local news show (on the same channel as NBC) won't tell the ACTUAL results, because they have yet to air here. WTF??? Talk about annoying.

Of course, NBC can't keep us from discovering the results long before they bother to let us SEE them. Thank God for the internet!

Sister Sue suzy_qp is in Reno playing cribbage this weekend. I hope she's having fun...

Marilyn mistressmarilyn and I spent a very lazy day, mostly sleeping in really, really late. By Saturday we're so dead beat from the week that all we want to do is lie around or just plain sleep.

But we did get out and pick up my first edition (!!!) copy of the book "That Man Lafayette," written by William Schoeler -- the father of my beloved high school art teacher, Gertrude Schoeler. I can remember like yesterday when I had checked out this book in high school and was carrying it to class while reading it. Miss Schoeler saw the book and told me all about her father writing it! The interesting thing was that I first read it in grade school, long before I ever met Gertrude! Here's a photo of the book.

"That Man Lafayette," by William Schoeler

Dr. Schoeler actually dedicated the book to Gertrude and her sisters. I can't wait to re-read it and see how well I remember it.

Marilyn and I picked up a SLEW of books (seriously, we got a huge stack) while we were there. I hadn't been in Cameron's for years, yet at one time I literally went to that store daily, spending hours looking through the books. I used to be very good friends with the former owner, and loved visiting with him. It felt really good to be in there again. It's a very old and funky shop, and not quaint in the least. But I have good memories of it, even so...

We stopped by the office, too. I was going to swap out the backup tape, but it wasn't done running, yet! I had no clue it ran that long (!!!) Oh well. I did try to save Hailey the trip for the Monday tape... (sigh)

Well, a nap is in order -- and I have MANY books to read! (woo hoo)
