Festival Tutorials Go Cyber -- Go, Me!

Marilyn mistressmarilyn had a 7:30 a.m. meeting this morning -- which means we were both up EARLY. (yawn)

The good side is that I got an early start on my projects for today, which is a very good thing!

I decided to take some of the 'how to' things I've recently typed up as Word documents, and turn these into actual webpages at the festival website! I ended up coding five new pages today -- one overview page with links, and four actual tutorial pages. These included how to submit items for the website (!!!) and a text standards outline.

The most time-consuming tutorial was on how to resize images -- because I had to screencap images and prepare them, and write the tutorial entirely from scratch, it took a couple of hours to finish. It was VERY similar to my Paint Shop Pro tutorials I used to do for various LiveJournal communities, back in the day.

We're going to discuss the website in Staff meeting tomorrow, so I'll be able to unveil these pages for Staff members to use. I'm excited about it!

It makes more work for me on this end, of course, but in the long run it will cut down on work -- because I won't have to explain these things over and over again. Plus people frequently lose paper documents, but that excuse goes out the window with webpage resources!

I worked straight through until around 4:00 p.m., then stopped and had a long nap. Now I need to code some more website stuff before tomorrow...

I have three meetings tomorrow: Staff meeting (with a website segment), a Communications meeting and a ClubRunner meeting. Aside from that, Kris is coming in, so I also have an IT-related focus. We're going to try and get a handle on the equipment for the interns (I need equipment for six computer stations -- towers/CPUs, monitors, optical mice, keyboards). I also need some speakers for people who don't have them.

There's a local place that has inexpensive equipment for sale -- plus has grants for non-profits, so we should qualify for this, too! I'm OUT of monitors, so it would really help if I could get some from them... (Another thing to discuss with Kris tomorrow.)

I talked to sister Sue suzy_qp today, who had fun with her cribbage tournament over the weekend.

I'm really, really, REALLY enjoying reading my Louis L'Amour "The Collected Short Stories of Louis L'Amour, Volume 1: The Frontier Stories" (that I bought as a second-hand hardback via the internet). I've always loved his writing, and recently I've been writing some Western-oriented things, so I'm really into his work again. (smile) It would please my Dad, who was also a huge fan -- as was my Uncle Alfred (who at one time loaned me a bunch of his paperbacks).

Andy Roddick lost to Marin Cilic at the Australian Open. Yes, we're still watching a lot of tennis! (smile)

Well, back to work!
