Intense and Exhausting WONDERFUL Day! (smile)

My day started with both festival website and IT work, prior to Staff meeting at 10:00 a.m.

We had a start on discussing the new website policy during Staff meeting, by the way. In future, Marilyn mistressmarilyn will take the lead on all those discussions. It should prove 'interesting.' (smile)

Then close to 11:00 a.m. while discussing tomorrow's BIG EVENT at City Hall, I got a call from Phooty on my cell phone, confirming that she'd be coming tomorrow. (woo hoo) I talked to her several times, and finally turned her over to Peter, who will be her handler for the event. (As of 6:00 p.m. tonight he STILL hadn't contacted her -- WTF??? -- but I'm sure he'll do fine with her tomorrow.)

While I was in Staff meeting Kris arrived with another man in tow. I was introduced to Rick, who is probably one of the TOP men for dealing with PHONE systems in the city of Portland (if not in the state of Oregon and the entire region, frankly). He has more than 30 years of experience and REALLY KNOWS HIS STUFF, believe me! He informed me he was willing to donate four hours of his time free to us to help us get our phone issues resolved, which is a pretty amazing thing for him to do! Of course, Kris has been explaining our financial situation to him (Kris so ROCKS), and he's anxious to really help us.

We went back to the hall where all of our phone and internet wiring and showed me how things simply were NOT set up correctly. (The amusing part was that the damn new sonic firewall wasn't even being used for our phones, in spite of the fact that this is why we bought it in the first place...) Rick is pretty impressive, let me tell you! Later in the afternoon he called me on my cell to tell me he'd been on the phone for an hour with the Inflow people. He set up a meeting for all of us next Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. -- so he's not letting any grass grow under him!

Kris told us from the get-go that he had a 'good phone person' -- and boy, did he prove that today!

Anyway, there was a ton of back-end phone stuff today and a lot of other IT-related things, as well.

Marilyn and I had to run errands in the afternoon in preparation for tomorrow's event.

I also managed to code some website pages, one being an employment announcement for Hailey and the other including the application for one of our parades. (Don't get me started on that one, which required several re-codings -- something that is NOT going to happen with every page for the rest of the year, I hope...)

I didn't have a single break all day long (except to go to the bathroom) and the only bite to eat I had was a container of yogurt in the morning (thankfully, considering my meds). Marilyn did bring me back Starbucks at one point, though -- she's always thinking about me!

Needless to say, by the time we stopped to get 'emergency' items at the store and McDonalds, I was pretty well STARVED when I got home here. I almost inhaled my two dollar menu cheese burgers. (grin)

After eating, I was mentally wiped out. I did find a pair of pants to wear tomorrow -- pretty important, as I had my newly cleaned uniform blue blazer and a clean white top, but wasn't anxious to be NAKED from the waist down! (heh) I'm wearing a pair of pants that I've never worn before, because they were too small. (In fact, I had all my rings on today, and they were so loose I was afraid I might lose some!)

Then I had a long nap, only waking when Marilyn warned me that I needed to blog before midnight (!!!). So here I am!

Now I need to package our PowerPoint presentation to CD to be played at City Hall tomorrow! We just played it over and I had tears in my eyes. I was getting shivers during it, always a GOOD SIGN of how perfect one of these presentations is. We expect that there won't be a dry eye in the house after it's been played.

So, seriously, how AMAZING it is that this will cap everything off tomorrow?

I'll be running around helping Marilyn with the event and getting PHOTOS (as always) and helping get video 'interviews' and just ENJOYING the whole thing! We discussed that at the end of the whole thing we're going to make some serious NOISE of excitement and appreciation -- right there in the council room at City Hall! Normally this is NEVER done (or allowed), so it should be incredible!

We keep referring to this as 'taking City Hall' -- and with our marching band, singers, clown corps and so much more, I imagine it will really be true! Just think, we'll have one of our (small) FLOATS outside City Hall! I'll have to try and share photos later on.

Anyway, I need to go do the CDs for tomorrow (woo hoo), lay out my clothes and get ready for an early morning and an event day (we normally never have events in January, so this is really something). Wish us luck and keep us in your thoughts tomorrow, please! We're unfortunately expecting bad weather (boo), but we'll have singers performing, "Don't Rain on My Parade," even so. (grin)

Interestingly enough, all of the current members of our Writing Circle will be there for this event! Marilyn and I are both really thrilled about that! Go, US!

Portland won't know what hit 'em tomorrow, because we really know how to put on an event. Heck, we're some of the BEST IN THE WORLD at doing exactly that, so watch us SHINE! Well, okay -- maybe I mis-spoke there: We're THE BEST in the world! (heh)
