We're at the house in Cannon Beach that Marilyn mistressmarilyn bought as an Auction package (last month). Or maybe I should call it the beach mansion. (smile) It's amazing. Three bedrooms and three bathrooms, a HUGE room downstairs that's divided into living room, dining room, family play corner and large kitchen (with a huge center bar for both cooking and eating). The guest bedroom is downstairs (with a private bath) and there are two more bedrooms upstairs (one is the master bedroom with another private bath). The upstairs is a loft, with an area for an office/playroom (with a foosball table). There's a large ceiling to floor stone fireplace, too. The place is just steps from the beach and very central for 'downtown' Cannon Beach.
Obviously they have WiFi, but I seem to have a hard time staying connected. I haven't been able to do much of anything online since we got here.
Nor have I done all that much writing, I'm afraid... Here's the latest count:
9,086 / 50,000
Marilyn is over 10,000 words, though -- go her!
Interestingly enough, I'm pretty convinced that my novel doesn't have more than 20,000 words in it, anyway! I'm certain that no matter how much padding I do, I'm never going to need 50,000 words to finish it.
So even if I don't 'win' NaNo, I think I'll end up with a complete children's novel out of the experience -- so I can't really complain, can I? (smile)
We went to the local market and got some Chill, then came back and shared two bottles (mixed with Clamoto. (By that I mean we split one beer, then later split another one. A big night for us!)
We've also been enjoying watching the HD big screen TV in the living room. They only have basic cable, but happily FX has been playing "Batman Begins," so we've been watching that. It's been great, with tons of explanation on the making of the movie.
Now we're watching "Frasier" (which we adore, as most of you know). Marilyn is logged on to work (!!!), and I decided to take a minute to type an entry. I hope I don't lose my connection before I can finish!!!
I hope the Boys (our cats Colin and Henry) are doing okay at home. We left them plenty of food and water, some warm blankets spread out on the living room sofa -- and the heat turned up so they won't get cold. But they're both pretty needy for their people (us), so I'm sure they aren't too happy right now...
Thanks to those of you who added me as a Writing Buddy at NaNo. They have a weird system, so I don't seem to have any way to discover that unless you tell me (or I stumble upon you). They need to make it more like LiveJournal, in my (not-so) humble opinion.
I'm off to watch "Frasier" now...
