I can't believe it!
Marilyn mistressmarilyn and I were watching TV together when we heard the announcement made. It seemed quite sudden -- and happened just as the Polls closed here in Oregon. (Our state was one of the ones that pushed him over, though obviously he won by a landslide.)
President Barack Obama
I can't believe it! I keep saying that, but it's true. How wonderful!
I can't help but think back to 1968 -- to Bobby Kennedy and Martin Luther King, Jr. And the song "Abraham, Martin and John." I can't help thinking of singing "We Shall Overcome" when I was a teenager.
Marilyn made a donation to Obama's campaign (that we really couldn't afford). But we both felt it was the right thing to do. I'm so proud of her for doing that! (She received an email from Obama that thanked her for her support... Isn't that cool?)
I have my Obama button (from Rich) up at my desk at work, even though I know I should keep politics away from the office. I couldn't help myself. I just knew this was the right thing for our nation. And I wore the other button Marilyn gave me to some events that might not have been appropriate, but what the hell.
I'm so happy, I'm beside myself.
I thought John McCain did a wonderful job during his speech, just for the record. It's interesting, but since Marilyn and I were 'John and Sarah' for Halloween, I feel much closer to these two people... (smile)
To those who are 'bored' by all the politics currently appearing in our blogs, I won't say I'm sorry for yet another entry. In fact, I'm sorry for you that you're not invested in this amazing event.
I've been blessed to live during amazing times -- and today was certainly another one of these.
