Just a quick post to wish all my American friends...
I have a sore throat and small headache, but I'm still having a good day. (Actually, I'm just this side of lying down for a nap, so I can get up and see the fireworks. I don't want to miss those!)
Marilyn mistressmarilyn made her awesome baked beans, and I did have a bowl of those. Plus some Reser's Macaroni Salad (it was delicious).
Earlier we did go get Starbucks (we both had iced drinks and breakfast sandwiches), which was nice.
It's a rather 'gray' day here (overcast -- not very pretty), but that's okay. So far we haven't had to take in our cushions for rain, though it might do that yet today...
We watched the movie "Independence Day" (which is a fave of ours, by the way) -- and will hopefully watch "Yankee Doodle Dandy" which is playing on TCM (Turner Classic Movies) at 11:00 p.m. our time (they have an article about it here).
We actually own a video copy of "Yankee Doodle Dandy" -- but I can't seem to find it! It's been a fave since childhood. James Cagney is amazing in that movie. He really is. (I even downloaded him singing "You're a Grand Old Flag" on iTunes so I could add it to our Americana playlist, which also contains four CDs we bought previously and always listen to for days prior to this holiday.)
The house and yard are decorated for the Fourth, of course. And our flag is hanging outside the front door. We both love people from all around the world -- but we're very proud to be Americans, and make no bones about that.
Well, I don't usually get headaches, so I do think I'll take some painkillers and lie down with this one. It's probably allergies -- mine have been a bitch recently. (sigh)
I hope all my friends -- Americans or not -- are having a good day! And that you'll all have a lovely weekend.
