I just went with sister Sue to get Starbucks (she paid -- very nice of her). Nicole was there and they'd dropped by to pick up a clown nose that I brought home from the office. Nicole's going to wear this to be Sue's 'assistant' at Levi's bday party today. (smile)
Yesterday was a hard day. Enough said. I went into this in great detail at 3 a.m. when I had to get up to do the garbage and recycling (I was up until past 4 a.m. with that), but I've actually filtered that entry for now. Yeah, I know I never do that, but it's sort of sensitive. I'll probably open it up later on, but for now, I think not...
I have a breakfast wrap from Starbucks to eat, which is pretty much all I had to eat yesterday. We didn't get home until after 9 p.m., so neither of us felt like cooking. (Does eating spoonfuls of cheese from a jar count as dinner? If so, I did have dinner...)
I'm tired today, but once I get enough caffeine in, I'll be fine. Marilyn mistressmarilyn is so remarkable that she was out of here to do the work she needed to get to prior to her 8:00 meeting this morning. I'm impressed as hell, let me tell you! She has six meetings today, so I don't envy her a bit.
The appearance at City Hall went well, by the way. Mayor-Elect Sam Adams (who we support and voted for) wasn't in attendance, no surprise. (He'd have been delighted to see Marilyn. He made a point of kissing her at the St. Johns parade!) For those who don't know, Sam is our first openly gay mayor of Portland! He's almost ridiculously qualified for the position and is one of the most intelligent men I know. Thankfully, he slammed Sho (who Marilyn also knows personally -- and who is an asshole).
Wasn't it cool that David Cook won American Idol? I only saw the last half hour (and not all of that) of the show, but anyway. I was sure he wouldn't win, so I was happily surprised.
I've never mentioned how terrible I feel about Ted Kennedy. I've been a supporter of the Kennedys since childhood, so this is a terrible shock. That poor family and all they've had to deal with... (sigh)
See? There is life outside the festival!
But as tomorrow marks one week out from the festival, I need to get back to work! I'm on deadline for the parade script, have an Email Blast (Newsletter) due out and a stack of website changes and additions to do. Plus helping with parade OPs with Marilyn. (We're going to get these out on Saturday with the lovely Sue, our parade chairman.)
Plus, all hail the 'Sacred Cow' (an inside joke)! Tom (yes, THE Tom) brought booty yesterday, lovely man that he is. It's easy to forget in light of everything else that went on, but this was a high moment of the day.
I must get to work now!
Good Morning!
