Exciting FREE Email Filter! (woo hoo)

Yes, I'm HOME today. Feeling lousy, but I think my throat is making it clear I need to TRY NOT TO TALK today. Hahaha. Yeah, yeah -- I was BAD yesterday. No doubt.

Anyway, I got off on a tiny tangent this morning. After SLEEPING IN, mind you, which was very nice! (Thanks, Marilyn! She never woke me at all this morning when getting ready and leaving for work. She's so sweet to me.)

My SPAM (junk email) has gotten completely out of control! And while at least there's some filtering from the Exchange at the office, that's certainly NOT true here at home. Anyway, I spend a TON of time just sorting and deleting SPAM. So I finally decided I needed to do something to 'help' me manage it.

I went online (of course) and looked for a legitimate and well-reviewed software. I found Cloudmark DestopOne -- and I'm already impressed as hell!!! This has the potential to SAVE ME TIME here at home. And if it works out good here, maybe it's actually something we could try in the office, too! And it's FREE.

Forgot to mention Fitbit in my entry last night. (I was tired, so I'm giving myself a break about that! Hahaha.) Anyway, I did have more than 7,000 steps yesterday. Not bad, huh? PLUS, we were having a bitch of a time with Marilyn's Fitbit! For whatever reason (???) the damn thing had stopped syncing days ago. This happens, but it's ALWAYS annoying! As Marilyn said, 'Why wear the things day and night if they aren't going to work?' And we DO pretty much wear them 24/7 (except when showering). Anyway, I spent ages messing with it and it finally went back to working. Not sure what did it. She has her iPad as her 'primary' Fitbit tracker, and I did shut it down and restart it (as shutting down the App hadn't worked). So maybe that was the 'trick' in this case.

I just have to say that even though we haven't been focusing on our steps recently, I still feel the Fitbit is a wonderful thing. It's been very inspirational, and I still think about my steps every day, even now when I'm sick. So it's clearly a good thing!

Well, I should probably get some actual WORK done now! After sleeping in and messing with email, I haven't focused at all on all the covers I need to do. And I should figure out what Christine can try to tackle, too...

I haven't talked to sister Sue lately. I need to call her. Of course, I need to NOT TALK too much, period, so I need to make that a very SHORT phone call. (smile)

star, gold star

Cloudmark DestopOne ROCKS!!! And Marilyn on TV (at City Hall)

Okay, I'm probably going to get redundant as hell about this software. But I seriously can NOT believe what a difference this has made in just a few short hours in how I view my email (especially my HOME email).

I realize that over time everybody will get more and more SPAM. There's almost no way around it, actually. But my home email was so bad that I was starting to HATE opening it at all. I'm by nature neat and organized about things on my computer, so this was maddening.

Yes, I feel everyone should be disciplined enough to maintain their email. But for most of the people I work with, this level of SPAM wasn't happening. There are only a few of us who have more SPAM than we can begin to manage.

Cloudmark DestopOne is already golden in my book. I can't remember the last time I felt this excited about a software (probably when talking about NoteTab Pro, made by Fookes -- who also has a free version). Yes, there are a lot of GREAT softwares and Apps out there, but some are just head and shoulders above others and really change our lives. I can see that this software will be one of these!

Marilyn was to speak on behalf of the festival at City Hall today at 3:00. So I checked cable TV and found it was being covered -- then I phoned sister Sue so she could watch, too. Marilyn read me her planned speech earlier today. Interestingly enough, she tossed it out and just spoke without it -- doing an even better job than the original speech! She was talking about Lyft, who was a new festival partner this year, our first-ever ride-share partner. The ride share issue has been a big deal here in Portland. And for those familiar with the problem, taxi cab drivers are very upset. This is a city where cabs are quite active, and the festival has also had partnerships with them, for the record.

Anyway, she did a great job. Both Sue and I were proud of her! She's such a good public speaker...

Now I'm going to actually take a nap before going back to work. I spent some time helping Christine work on making a cover for a Pinnacle submission, and she and I split the list. When I get up I'm going to tackle some of my covers...

Marilyn gets her hair done soon. I wish I'd done mine!!!

under the weather

Still Feeling Yucky...

I'd really like to say I'm feeling better today. After all, I stayed home and took it easy and slept in. I even took a long nap this evening. But I feel crummy.

And my voice is still gone.

Look, it could be much worse. Poor Jeff has serious complications with his broken wrist. They have to put wires and pins and a plate inside. And another cast. It sounds pretty awful. I'm praying for him. He's supposed to come back to work next week, but I'm not sure he should. I think he needs to be careful and take it very slow...

Anyway, I'm back to work tomorrow. We need to do more work on the Pinnacle submissions and work LATE if necessary. We only have until NOON on Friday to get everything READY TO GO. It's exciting, but also stressful. I don't know HOW Marilyn does it!

No, I didn't color my hair today. I didn't even wash it (but need to do that tonight, even if I have to get up in the middle of the night to do it)... (sigh)

I'm off to sleep. Marilyn's sleeping right now.

She got her hair done and it's really nice!!!

I did speak briefly with sister Sue today. I'm proud of how well she's doing keeping her water weight off right now! Good for her!!!

No beach this weekend. (I wonder if we'll try to go next weekend or not?)

Today is my friend Danny's birthday. Happy birthday, Danny!!!

That's all for today. Can you believe I blogged more than once today???
