so long farewell

Goodbye to Our Honda Crosstour (Sparkle)!!!

Today was our LAST work day before a much-needed vacation week. (woo hoo) So there was plenty to get done, of course.

But our focus was very much on the final aspect of returning our Honda that Marilyn has been leasing for the past three years.

First thing this morning Gary met us at the office (right around 8:00 a.m.) to do an inspection of the car. Then this afternoon we drove all the way out to Wilsonville to the car dealership, where sister Sue was waiting for us. We did the final paperwork before turning back the car (which we've called 'Sparkle' since we first got it).

Then we were off with sister Sue (who was there to drive us home) to dinner at Red Robin -- which is where we went three years ago right after we got the car. (smile) So very nice of Sue to help us out today...

We had to have a few drinks. The car situation is resolved (thankfully!!!) and we're now officially ON VACATION for the next week. (woo hoo)

Vacation mode!

We're home now. It was a super HOT day today (!!!). Weather in Portland is often like this: We go from rain and cool weather to really HOT weather, quite suddenly. We were in a sweat yesterday and again today. It was lovely to get home where we have air! Yes!

Marilyn is now snoozing on the family room sofa with Wimbledon tennis playing on the TV. Colin is sleeping right by her. I'm off to read my Kindle and have a nap -- and Henry is ready to join me.

Great end to a busy day!

Photos from the Peninsula Park (& Community Center) Centennial Celebration!

As promised, I want to share some photos from the Peninsula Park Centennial Celebration that was held here in Portland (Oregon) yesterday, June 27. These are in no particular order, simply because it's so difficult (!!!) to use LiveJournal's Scrapbook feature and ever attempt to keep things that way you intended them to be uploaded. But I'll try to caption them all, at least a little bit.

Without further ado, PHOTO SHARE!!!

The quality might leave something to be desired, as I took these with my iPad (which used to have decent quality, but has gotten worse with updates over time -- I can't imagine why Apple would make the quality worse, can you? hahahahahahaha...).

NOTE: Clicking on a photo will take you to the larger version of the image.
