Movie: "The Avengers"

Just back from seeing the movie "The Avengers," with an amazing cast that includes Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston, Clark Gregg, Cobie Smulders, Stellan Skarsgard and Samuel L. Jackson (!!!). Mind-blowing, isn't it?

I totally recommend this film if you haven't already seen it. Yeah, we late comers (Marilyn and me, I mean) saw this in second-run at The Mt. Hood Theatre (a long-time fave place we've gone for years). Better late than never! This really should be seen on the big screen for full enjoyment.

Gotta love these super heroes! Marilyn and I grew up DC fans -- and not at all into Marvel. So we're still pretty new to characters like Captain America and Iron Man and Thor. Sure, we got to know David Banner (the Hulk) from the TV series years ago. We didn't go see the movies for either Captain America or Thor, but we've become real Iron Man fans (Robert Downey, Jr. is FABULOUS in the role). Here's the thing: These characters work so well as an ensemble! I didn't care if I saw Thor as a stand-alone, but I loved him as part of a group.

The movie was l-o-n-g, but never boring. And the action and fighting were all good, instead of too much.

If you're not cheering by the end of the movie (we were), then you must have slept through it (which seems pretty impossible, just from a noise level alone).

Late summer. One of Marilyn's and my fave times of the year! And we love finally finding time to get out and see some movies -- whether in first or second run. Two movies in two nights? Pretty fun stuff, I have to say.

Ah, vacation!

And two straight nights of Jeremy Renner? Yes, that's a good thing, too! (grin)
