Work and Shopping -- and I'm Done In.

When Marilyn got home from work she stopped just long enough to get me and haul me back to the office. Then we worked for 3 1/2 hours (until around 11:30 p.m.).

After that we drove straight to WalMart to shop -- and it was no small trip! We needed a lot of things, including some basics (like bread). We got home past midnight and I cooked a meal, as we were both starving.

I was pretty done in by the time I finished unpacking everything (including a case of soda and two cases of bottled water). I did end up lifting computer towers at work, but the one I had to bring downstairs wasn't one of the huge ones (thankfully). And the large tower didn't have to be moved all that far. But I did have to go up and down the staircase countless times -- and crawl on the floor under desks.

Happily, I have the station for Alex all set up (woo hoo), and got a computer in place for Lilia, even though it needs more work. So I feel like I accomplished some important work today!

And I got a lot of festival website stuff done this afternoon, including a News item (that also went on the Home page), the update for the Auction page and the update for the Vendor page. Now I have a new update that just came to me today, so hopefully I'll get it done soon.

Marilyn also hopes to have some PSSCA stuff for me tomorrow...

Wednesday goals? Too many for one day, I suspect. I want to finish putting away Christmas, which will probably take hours. (sigh) I need to color my hair. I'd like to cook (and this item takes some time to do). I'd hoped to start work on our new desktop computers for here at home (which won't just take hours, but DAYS of hours and hours to do).

Just taking down our Christmas tree and boxing it up is a huge job. And I need to take down the outdoor tree, too.

I'm so tired right now that typing this is making me almost shake. (yikes) I wonder how much I'll actually get done?

Well, whatever happens, I MUST be at work on Thursday. Alex will be starting that day, and I need to do her computer orientation -- a sure sign that another year is really here when our Seasonal Staff people are hired on and begin work. I have a spiel I go through for each new person, so it's no big deal. But it wouldn't hurt for me to review it a bit in my head. (smile)

And it's almost 2:00 a.m., so Marilyn and I should probably be heading to bed!

Henry goes in to see his own vet (woo hoo) tomorrow. I hope he gets a good report. (If he can rope-a-dope right on top of me, he must be feeling better!)

I just read Marilyn's fic for LAS that's due tomorrow -- and I think it's amazing. She's such a good writer. I love reading her stuff...

And that's it for today.

Kindle! Nooooooooooooo!!!

My Kindle froze up on me. Apparently this is a common thing (the way iPods freeze up). I found references all over the place when I searched on it...

But nothing worked to unfreeze it. I finally had to call Customer Service and get it replaced. (sigh)

The bad thing? Normally it would ship in two days, but because of Christmas, it's on back order. I won't have it until January 12 or 13, at the earliest...

I'd hate to say that I'm addicted to my Kindle, but I may as well be honest here. I'm addicted to my Kindle. While at work last night, I had it playing soothing music while I read "The Virginian" during those periods where I had to wait (and wait and wait) while doing software installation and other IT junk. I certainly made the process more pleasant for me!

I've messed with it for a couple hours this morning, too -- even after talking to Amazon. Silly, I know, but I just can't seem to accept the fact that I'll be Kindle-less for more than a week! (big sigh)

Okay, I have a huge list to do and want a short nap before starting. So I'm giving up on the Kindle and going back to bed for now...

ETA: Hey, guys! There ARE resolutions for most incidents. In most of the cases I saw, the fixes that Kindle suggests take care of the problem quite easily. I've no idea why I'm not one of these, but I think I'm just unlucky here... And I can't WAIT to have my Kindle back again (well, the new one) -- and start using it like crazy all over again. (smile) So, seriously, no worries!

Wednesday 'To List' -- Going Better Than Expected!

I started this day with a HUGE 'To Do' list (which I mentioned yesterday). No, I did NOT go back to bed and sleep, as I'd considered doing. I got in and got busy and really didn't find time for it!

To Do List

1. Take down the outside tree and box it up. DONE

2. Take down the Christmas tree, box up and store away. DONE

3. Pack up Christmas. ???

4. Cook Curry Noodles -- for us AND for Sue, Candy and Nicole. (Give pots of noodles to Sue for her house.) DONE

5. Grocery shop (for cooking ingredients). DONE

6. Take Henry to the vet (with Marilyn at 2:00 p.m.). DONE

7. Color hair. ???

8. Work on festival website. ???

9. Work on PSSCA website. TONIGHT: When Marilyn gets home

10. Do garbage and recycling (cat boxes, etc.). Started -- must be finished!

11. Start setup on new desktop computers. NOT HAPPENING

12. Do load of dishes. ??? (Hopefully sometime today...)

(Why I can't get that list to format the way I want is BEYOND me today... sigh...)

I could probably add to this list, but I'll stop there. That's plenty -- an even dozen. Note that I also had to lift some heavy stuff (the boxed Christmas tree and furniture that went back after moving it), plus carrying the bags of groceries (last night revisited). Once more I'm pretty done in...

I'd forgotten how long Curry Noodles take. I generally get on cooking sprees, especially in autumn and winter. I did do some cooking during autumn, but we've just been so busy -- and I've been so tired -- that it's been hard to get up for it. However, Sue and Candy both consider this a huge treat, and have been asking for it for months. Seriously! So it's about time I made them...

Now that Marilyn and I have taken Henry to the vet (she's back at work by now), if I can do a just a little bit more (!!!) I should get that nap (!!!) I've been wanting. I'm decidedly feeling better today, so a nap might help keep me stay that way. (I don't feel as sick, but I do feel really tired.)

And I MUST go to work tomorrow, as I have a new person starting (yeah, I've mentioned it before) who needs computer orientation. (Basically, nobody touches a computer in our office until they've had this computer session with me. So she can't use her computer until I've had my talk with her.)

Well, back to work! The sooner I'm done (at least with the garbage and recycling), the sooner I nap!!! (woo hoo)

I'll give the Henry report (after seeing his vet) later.
