Beach Trip!

Marilyn mistressmarilyn, sister Sue suzy_qp and I took another trip to the beach today!

We left the house around 1:00 p.m. to head to Seaside, Oregon. We wanted to play Fascination at 4:00 p.m. (Coverall), then have dinner and walk on the beach. Then have ice cream at Zinger's, before playing the 8:00 p.m. Coverall session of Fascination. That was the plan!

Sue was so HOT playing Fascination! She was winning like mad. I started out playing pretty bad, but came back later on. Anyway, all in all each of us won, so we ended up with many tickets to take home. (smile)

I ordered a steak and spaghetti combo at dinner -- and the steak was so bad I couldn't eat it. Sue actually sent it back (!!!), which is amazing, as Sue is known for NEVER sending back food, ever. (Circle the calendar!) So I had a cup of chowder, my spaghetti (it was a small dish) and some of Marilyn's clam strips for dinner (with a small amount of bread). Plenty to eat, in other words, but not excessive.

Then Sue stayed in the car and read (she wasn't feeling well -- but we thought it could have been due to low blood sugar from waiting to eat for many hours), while Marilyn and I took a nice walk down on the beach for around 45 minutes. And then I had ANOTHER low blood sugar incident after the walk. Apparently I can't exercise at all right now without an incident. I was down to 95 AFTER EATING all that food (and had been 104 before the meal). Again I had to eat sugar to balance, then we went to have ice cream where I ate two scoops. After that I felt fine, thankfully (!!!).

Marilyn and Sue are both convinced I need to immediately go off the one 'problem' medicine, and I must admit I agree. (It's also the medicine the dietician wants me off.) To be unable to do ANY exercise -- even the lightest amount -- without a low blood sugar incident is appalling to me. (sigh)

I'll have to try and get in to see my doctor this week (if possible) and see if he can adjust my meds. Sue said they had to adjust her meds several times -- and she remembered very well what the low blood sugar incidents were like (and how scary and awful they can be).

I was VERY CAREFUL all day long with food intake, carefully spreading it out. But that didn't help at all. And the exercise was really mild. I didn't even break a sweat during it -- but I certainly was sweating during the incident I had! My hands were shaking and I started to feel lousy -- but I caught it quickly and it wasn't all that bad, I'm happy to say.

All-in-all we had a WONDERFUL time at the beach (Sue's incident and mine aside). We enjoyed talking going down and back, laughed long and hard, played and ate and enjoyed the lovely weather and friendly people. It was a good trip.

Marilyn is currently downstairs watching the tennis she DVR-ed, while doing some weights. I'm nodding and ready to sleep and imagine she must be tired after all that driving (she drove both ways -- we took our car).

We're supposed to play tennis with Rich tomorrow. And our iPods are being delivered at some point, too.

And I have to clean house a bit, put my rock garden back (it was moved for the painting), do some work outside and get ready to entertain tomorrow night!

Plus Marilyn and I both need to write, as we haven't done the assignment that's due tomorrow night yet!

So we're looking at a VERY busy day, all around.

Marilyn and I did go and tan this morning, and stopped at Starbucks after. I somehow managed to leave my drink in the kitchen when we headed out for our beach trip, though, silly me.

I hope we head to bed soon. It's been a long day.

New iPod, Writing Group -- Busy, Busy Day!

Marilyn mistressmarilyn and I got our new iPods (that I mentioned HERE) today.

It was funny, actually. They were supposed to be delivered today, so I had my usual signs on the front door ("I'm home -- please ring bell and knock loudly"), because so often they don't even TRY the house for the delivery (for whatever reason). By evening, there had been no delivery, and people were arriving to meet for our monthly Writing Group gathering.

Sister Sue suzy_qp and Jodi arrived first (at the same time, actually). When Angel came, I went to the door and said, "If you're not delivering iPods, you can't come in," as a joke. (grin)

There was another knock on the door and I figured it was Dick, so I went to the door and threw it open, starting to say the same thing to him -- but it was the delivery man, bringing our iPods! This was past 6:00 p.m. at night, by the way, so I'd pretty much given up on them coming today...

There was no time to play with them until after the meeting, obviously. But they're fabulous. I love my orange one (I'll have to make a new icon), and Marilyn got the silver. So more about them soon! (smile)

Marilyn and I spent the morning getting the house cleaned and the yard finished for visitors (which included putting my rock garden back in the corner, fixing our broken flower box and replanting part of it, clipping the ivy in the corner bed, sweeping and putting out the table cloth for the picnic table, washing off all the tables and more...). I had (yet another) low blood sugar incident, brought on by housework, of all things! Annoying as hell. I'm only taking the Metformin (generic Glucophage) as of today, so we'll see what happens with that, by the way -- hopefully I'll quit having so many low blood sugar situations.

Marilyn ran out to get ice and chips after finishing up her story. We were both writing today and managed to get pieces done in time for the meeting, happily.

We had another good meeting with more pizza and loads of laughter. We did an exercise that went really well -- these have become one of the best parts of our meetings. We did sit outside on the deck part of the time, as well as eating and visiting in the living room (as usual).

Anyway, we were busy every minute of the day, so it was pretty exhausting. We've got work tomorrow, so we'll probably try and head to bed soon. But first we're going to have rootbeer floats! (yummy)

Life is good!
