Yes, shoot me.
I finally quit trying to update here when this happened to me. (Yes, right at the appointed hour, of course!) I had more there, but it's lost now... (ugh)
It used to be all the rage when I was a teenager! (grin)
Anyway, I went out around 4 p.m. today and planted flowers and did yard work for literally hours. I got a total of 15 pots dones. (We plant in pots.) No pictures to share, yet. I'll try to get some tomorrow! (One of those 'pots' is a very large oblong bucket, that we put near our fountain.)
Speaking of our fountain, I need to get it cleaned out. (Huge job.) Put the pump back in and get it running again. Uncover all the lawn furniture, scrub down the deck (bigger job), clean off the brick of the patio (big job -- using a wire brush). I doubt any of that will be done soon!
This is the earliest ever we've had flowers in, by the way! We've never before planted in April (as we did on Sunday). Marilyn mistressmarilyn figured out that our earliest planting prior to this year was the first weekend in May...
It feels good to be getting them in the 'ground' (sort of) now, so they'll have more time to get lovely this year! (smile)
Thankfully Hector (our yard man) comes tomorrow! After skipping getting the lawn cut last week so the walk and flower beds could be done, it's got long and shaggy now...
So I dug back in my journal and located my first-ever mention of vertigo, back when I didn't know I had it yet. Just a short mention of crackling in my right ear and the dizziness I was having. (That was the entry I posted after my friend Dorothy died. There's a wonderful photo...)
I also discovered the entry where I told about getting my first vertigo diagnosis and meds. (That entry also contains a lengthy discussion about ageism that I thought I'd never bothered to post...)
I really, really need to go back at some point and work on both my tags and my memories here at LJ. It would make it so much easier to find things!
Some time back I started to tag with the month/year and year. Using the calendar view in my layout isn't all that simple, so it's probably easier to just use the tags...
I tag things half to death.
Personally, I wish that clicking on a tag would bring up a list of entries, rather than all the entries that use a given tag. It would be easier for me to use, anyway. (smile)
(I wonder if that would be a good thing to post at suggestions?)
I need to update on the progress with our yard! Including some pictures. But as I haven't taken the pictures yet... (grin)
Back to work!
So, I never took photos today, I'm afraid...
But our pink dogwood is amazingly beautiful this year! Tons of people have commented and told us how lovely it is.
Here's a small picture from last year. Not a good one, though. (smile) Anyway, picture it with ten times the blossoms! (Okay, so that's an exaggeration. But at least three times the blossoms!)
I finally reached both Sandy (Hector's wife) and Hector today. We were 'on the list' (to be done today -- Wednesday is our normal day), but the crew was running very, very late. (I needed to check, because we cancelled last week due to the work we were having done.)
They didn't mow us until around 5:00! I honestly can't understand why we always seem to be the last house on their schedule now. (sigh) Anyway, they did a very nice job. (I need to take photos!!!)
I was sorry to hear that Sandy's email is messed up -- but at least I know she wasn't ignoring my last email to her! (No wonder she hasn't picked up any of my recent ecards...) She was harried and unhappy and having her period, poor thing. (I forget sometimes how nice it is not to deal with that anymore.)
So here's what our flower boxes near the deck looked like in 2005. We've got the impatiens planted there (as always), but they're still small at this point. Yes, yes. I need current pictures! (grin)
Back to work!
