Work on House and Yard -- Update!

It was hot again today -- but you only noticed it if and when you were standing around in the direct heat (no shade) for long periods. (Yes, I did that a few times, but it was okay...) Oh -- and I had a nice talk with a neighbor before heading out.

I rode my bike out to run errands -- over to the local locksmith and then on to Freddies. I needed some additional house keys, some more cleaning supplies -- and wanted a couple more flowers, believe it or not. (grin)

So, have any of you tried...

...the Mr. Clean 'Magic Eraser'???

I had two stains on my bathroom counter that I've tried everything on, including bleach gel. (ugh) Nothing was going to budge them! Nothing but this magic eraser sponge-thing, that is! I'm stunned. What makes it work??? It's like a white sponge with no soap embedded in it. How can that be?

Anyway, I'm recommending people try it. It stunned the hell out of me! (smile)

Okay, so aside from that, we had ants again today. Not as bad as yesterday, but still! I'm spraying the hell out of them. I wonder why they keep coming back? (There's simply no food over on that side of the room. Yet I haven't seen them on the opposite side of the kitchen -- where there is food -- even once! Weird.)

Damn ants! The may be winning a battle or two, but I'm going to win the war...

Did I mention that Marilyn mistressmarilyn gave me her Head tennis bag that she bought (brand new) on eBay? I finally put my rackets and other tennis stuff inside it today. Works great! I think I'm in love. (grin)

No tennis this evening, as Marilyn is at her big annual Summer Board Meeting tonight. This is the event she's been coordinating recently -- plus she'll be speaking twice, as well. I hope it goes well! What I saw of the video -- prior to it being completed -- was fabulous! (Wish I could be there to see and hear everything.)

(I really, really hope it's a great night for Marilyn. She deserves it -- plus she's been having an annoying and difficult week, I'm afraid.)

I wonder if Marilyn heard back from Tom today or not? (Last I heard she hadn't.) I didn't get a chance to ask her before she had to take off. Anyway, she recently bought him a surprise gift that she's anxious to give him. (Not anything big, but it's special, even so.) Actually, I'm really excited for him to get it, too.

The gift has a kind of odd sentimental thing going on, that's hard to explain. I'm not sure anybody else besides the three of us would smile over it, actually. (grin)

Oh, and to be honest, I was hopeful Tom might have time to dump off another box of goodies for us, what with the Staff Picnic tomorrow. (And people coming over here to the house after...) And plus the stuff he brings is such good stuff. I simply never seem to see tons of it at the store to buy. (Oh, and I think it was sweet that a bunch of stuff in the last box was healthy snacks! He knows we're both tryig to be 'good' now, so he's helping our effort. Isn't that nice? He's such a great guy...)

I'm taking a rest from cleaning to type this up. (I'm tired.) I was going to cook myself dinner, but I'm not all that hungry -- and don't feel like standing over the stove. So...

Anyway, here's my list of accomplishments for today!

  1. I ran the errands I mentioned, riding my bike. (That's errands plus exercise, if you're keeping track.)

  2. I colored my hair. (That's a big one, as I have such a time getting myself to do it...)

  3. I cleaned off the front porch.

  4. I added water and bleach to the fountain in back.

  5. I watered all the outdoor plants. (And a few of the indoor ones, too.)

  6. I trimmed back the lilac bush (again). And did more trimming of the roses, etc.

  7. I finally vacuumed and dusted the living room. It didn't really need it all that bad, but what the hell.

  8. I cleaned my bathroom.

  9. I did a tiny bit of Paint Shop Pro community moderation today, too. Not much, though. (I need to finish up a tutorial or two and post them!)

  10. I cut the weeds, grass, etc. away from the curb.

For the record: I absolutely hate it when this crap is growing in the crack between the curb and the street, directly in front of our house! It makes me nuts. The yard crew is supposed to do it, so I wasn't happy that they hadn't! (Plus it was damn hot when I was out there with a lousy knife chopping away...)

Note: No, I did not pick up all the damn branches under the big tree by the garage, however. Instead, I phoned and complained that this had gone two weeks -- and visits from the crew -- without being done. (And as Marilyn says, we pay plenty to have the job done right, after all.) So Hector came out late today and did it for me. Okay, I did do a little of it -- but not all. (I tripped over some of it while doing the garbage and recycling last night, though -- which made me more than a little unhappy...)

  11. Because of the ants (sigh), I repeated some cleaning in the kitchen (yet again).

Kittie Scarlett is in my lap, trying hard to dose off, I think...

The picnic tomorrow isn't until noon -- and is happily only a couple blocks away. (Easy walking distance from our house, actually.) So I imagine we'll get to sleep in before heading over. We're responsible for arriving early and putting up the signs! (smile)

We'll need to get ice tomorrow for here at the house. I've got the Margarita mix and tequila in the fridge chilling, along with a small amount of beer. We need some more beer and some pop -- plus some chips or something to serve.

I need a nap big time. It's been a busy day!

But I seem to be almost over my bladder/kidney infection! (We'll know for sure after we take in the sample to be tested -- which is supposed to happen tomorrow, but will probably be put off until next week...)

Damn! I absolutely needed to do some laundry today! Well, I guess I'm not going to get around to that...

Hm. I'm sort of wondering if I should wait up for Marilyn to get home from the meeting... ???site stats
