Marilyn has this long-held theory that we're 'allergic' to our house. Way back when, she'd believed that getting new carpet downstairs might help, but that happened after our flooding and didn't do it... It might be related to the air vents. We've had them cleaned more than once, but it does seem like we both sneeze a lot when the AC is on. Or the furnace in the winter... It's annoying, but we have both been really allergic our entire lives, and it supposedly only gets worse with age, so... I feel really bad when Marilyn has an asthma attack, though, poor thing.
As for me, I've still got a sore throat. I'm still feverish on and off. I've still got laryngitis (not horrible, but I'm not back to normal, yet). I'm still congested and couhing, just a littlt, but it's annoying. So Marilyn finally managed to convince me I should go back to the doctor. I called, and they had no appointments, but suggested I phone in the morning to see if maybe the same doctor I saw last time could work me in tomorrow. I guess we'll see. Probably not. I'd love to know if there's something else I should be doing... I'm pretty tired of being sick. I just don't know WHAT anybody can do. You know she won't want to give me another antibiotic. She didn't want to give me one in the first place. And I'm not convinced it would help, anyway... (It sure helped my eye, though!)
(By the way, I first got sick on June 7. Got laryngitis on June 9. Got my eye infection on June 10 and saw the doctor on June 13. Um... it's now JULY, for crying out loud. Just saying.)
Anyway, not sure how I got off on all of that. We had a basically lazy, but FUN day! It's just awesome to be on vacation, frankly. We were watching episodes of "Leave It To Beaver," and "The Middle." (Love them.) And watching Wimbledon tennis. And playing Zuma (on our desktop computers), and messing around with our iPads (Marilyn plays her word game and Civilization on the iPad.) And napping.
And I made Mom's awesome 'hot dog-itty' hot dogs. You take hot dogs and carefully cut open in skin in a barber pole round and round pattern. Then you dip them in a ketchup and mustard mix, and roll them in cornflake crumbs. Finally, you bake them in the oven. We like them really well down, so we cook them for around 40 minutes. We had them on buns, but they are seriously yummy without them. They already have both ketchup and mustard, so they don't reaaly need them, unless you're eating them on a bun.
I also made Suddenly Salad. Then I wanted baked beans, and we didn't have any canned beans. But we did have white beans, so I used some barbecue sauce, Pendleton whiskey and green sauce and they turned out great. A different, but good flavor. All this food was 'like a party' (as we always like to say). I just haven't been eating that much since I've been sick. So it was fun having all this food. I actually ate quite a bit today, anyway. And we had some Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches, so we had those for dessert. A splurge, for sure. Fourth of July-type food.
We were going to go get our manicures and pedicures today. Seriously. But just couldn't get up for it. Oh well. Tomorrow, I guess.
We're thinking we'll leave Sunday for the beach house. We just need to be there before Monday (the Fourth). Anyway...
I must color my hair now. I hope I have some color I can use...
I did the recycling yesterday, but NOT the garbage, so I also must do those.
It's now 1:00 a.m., but Marilyn and I have no plan to head to bed, yet. (grin)
It's vacation, and we can do whatever we want.
That's just the best feeling! Hahaha. Awesome.
Oh. We needed to go shopping, too. But we just didn't want to go out today. (And I need to pick up my prescriptions, oh well.) We'll get to it all, sooner or later. We can do whatever we want, and we're both really good with doing NOTHING much right now. We don't get many chances for that, after all...
Sweet dreams and happy, lazy hours, my friends!!!
