Marilyn and I were both tired from yesterday -- and sore, too. That was a long time in the car (and standing in line).
We went out to our friend Cynthia's Retirement and Farewell party in Wilsonville this afternoon and took her flowers (roses and lilies -- very pretty), two cards and a gift certificate. We haven't seen her much in recent years, but have kept up with her on social media. But back in the day we saw her often. Anyway, she was there in Vegas for Marilyn's 50th birthday, and we wanted to be there for her today. We met Steven, a TriMet bus driver, and hope to get to know him better. His son is in college and might like to apply to intern for the festival... Cynthia is leaving for Nevada on Wednesday.
Then we came home and watched some of the men's final at the U.S. Open. We were pulling for Roger (sigh). (The Open was a big disappointment this year, as we wanted Serena and Roger to win...)
I was falling asleep holding my iPad and watching the match, I was so tired. And Marilyn had stomach cramps at one point. I was afraid we wouldn't make it to dinner with our friends June and Jim (to celebrate June's birthday, belatedly).
But Marilyn got to feeling better, so we left at 6:30 and went to Mexican food -- and had a LOVELY time! I'm so glad we went! We did a lot of visiting and told them about our trips to California and New York. (We had also invited sister Sue to attend, but she wanted to watch the tennis. Everybody missed having her there, though...)
We want to go see "A Walk in the Woods" with them and sister Sue on Tuesday night -- it looks like a good film from the trailers we've seen. It's about two older men walking the Appalachian Trail (we're still reading the book about Emma Gatewood and that same walk).
I had bad leg cramps in the night and this morning (surprise). I'm hoping I won't tonight, as we did very little walking today.
We're heading to bed really soon. Not sure what we'll do tomorrow, but I doubt it's going to involve any long trips in the car. (We talked about Wildlife Safari, but that's just too much driving...)
My cat (Henry) is bitching me out right now. He wants ATTENTION. Little wonder, poor guy. But I picked him up and he 'ouched' me. Now he pinned me sitting on the floor to get my attention. It had another ten minutes to blogging... (sigh)
Good night all.
