Marilyn and I ended this 'day of rest' by going to get tacos (to go) at the Burrito House. Then we drove downtown and watched the fireworks on our way, then without stopping, headed home to eat. Hahaha. Drive-by fireworks! Well, we didn't see them all, but good enough. It looked like a 10 to 12 minute show, tops. The advertised this as: It will be one of the biggest and best fireworks show in Portland.
No, TriMet, not really. Hahaha. You have to get into the 20 minute range to be there, I'm afraid. Don't get me wrong. It was a nice show. But not in line with what the festival puts on annually at all. (Saying it doesn't make it so, TriMet.) I'm still annoyed we couldn't get a festival-related name for the new bridge back when they were seeking suggestions (we all gave them tons!).
Oh! And we did both text and talk to Adeena, who WAS downtown to see the fireworks with friends.
The rest of our day? I'm amazed we even got up and got dressed so we could go out at all. We certainly didn't bother before that (and we're talking about not putting on clothes until past 8:00 p.m.!). This was an entirely lazy day here.
We did watch a bunch of tennis today on TV. And play on our iPads a bit. And I read out loud from A Slight Trick of the Mind
-- the new novel we bought from Amazon. It's the book they based the film "Mr. Holmes" on -- and the writing is FANTASTIC!!! Just beautiful work. I highly recommend the novel, just as I did the movie.
I got some lovely SLEEP today (Marilyn did, too).
We're both bothered by all the SMOKE in the air from the forest fires in the Pacific Northwest. I'm sure Marilyn's asthma attack was probably partly brought on by that (or at least worse because of it). And it was far worse today. My throat and chest were really irritated today...
We're planning to go to dinner tomorrow night with June and Jim (we've been talking about it all week long). Marilyn and I are both looking forward to it.
Sister Sue and Larry had a good time last evening after the movie. They went to dinner and then out.
My clinic phoned today. It's time for me to get in to see Leslie Cody my nurse practitioner for my labs and exam.
I got sick after dinner. Not sure why. But at least I managed NOT to throw up, which was nice!
Marilyn and I ended our day playing Zuma on our desktop PCs in our office (upstairs). Yes, we still break down and play that old game after all these years. Hahaha.
My MONITOR finally DIED today (sigh). I need to replace it. I have one, but it's a big hassle to set it up because of the way you do dual monitors. Anyway, maybe I'll try and do that tomorrow...
We want to go to Wildlife Safari (we haven't been yet this year). So we're talking about that.
And that was our Saturday!
