Lunch and the Goodwill

I'm just back from lunch with my two sisters Marilyn and Sue -- and a big trip to the Goodwill with Sue! (Thanks for taking me, Suzy!!!)

Marilyn joined us at the Burrito House for lunch after a long (3-hour!) meeting. It was so nice that she could break away! All the waitresses kept coming over to see us because it's been so long since we've been in there. It was really sweet!

Then I packed up Sue's entire trunk and backseat (no, I'm NOT kidding!) with boxes and bags and hauled it all to the Goodwill. It's SO HOT OUT (!!!) that I'm sweating like crazy as I sit here. But everything (for now) is gone! I had piles in both the house and garage, so I'm very happy!

Funny: I did pull out some items for Sue to see, in case either she or Candy might want them. There was one pair of size ten shoes (I actually wear a 9 1/2 -- but Sue wears a 10) that she loved, so hopefully they'll fit her! I think she grabbed three pair to check out in all. And I gave her a couple of my tops with long sleeves. Plus some other sleeveless tops for Candy.

And if that stuff doesn't work out for them, they can always give it away. It's nice to see clothes get another chance to be worn by others.

I don't give away clothes that are no longer nice -- those go in the garbage or our ragbag (torn up). I don't understand people who try to give the Goodwill CRAP that nobody would want! My goal is to give away things that still have value so that others can potentially enjoy them.

Anyway, I'm feeling a bit LIGHTER at this moment! Hahaha. And I can't wait to tackle MORE clothes. I'm sure I have a bunch I no longer wear that can go -- making room for what I DO wear.

Wow, the sweat is just rolling down my face!

Tacos for lunch -- they were good! I really enjoyed that.

Now I'm going to do some laundry and maybe rest. I was going to go back to bed this morning, but didn't end up doing that. I wanted to get everything 100% ready to go when it was time. I should have taken a picture of all of those bags and boxes!!!

I wonder if I could part with more stuff here in the office? At one point I was anxious to go through all our file cabinets and really pare them down. We have so much paperwork. It's hard to believe! But I did go through the computer (IT-related) stuff just last year and really eliminate a lot, so I don't know that there's much there to go at this point. It never hurts to give it another try, I suppose...

Still reading my hoarding book, which is fascinating. I've been sharing a bunch of it with Marilyn. Just to be clear: I do realize that technically I am NOT a hoarder. Hoarding is an illness and is difficult to treat and nearly impossible to 'cure.' But I do display many of the symptoms of hoarders, and have a very hard time parting with any number of belongings. Souvenir items are an example! I have a big pile of movie ticket stubs that go back into my teen years (remember that I'm now 60). I rarely ever (almost NEVER) pull these out and look at them, either. So these are pretty pointless. It might be fun to make something out of them, though! (smile)

Well, that's it for now. I'm going to call and see if any of those shoes worked out for Sue! (grin)
