Wind Storm!!! Please Stay ON, Power!

We're in the middle of a WIND STORM here -- the strongest wind gusts in the past 20 years.

Oh. My. God! They just said it was like the Columbus Day Storm of 1962!!!

Anyone who lived through that event has never forgotten it! It's awful.

We lost half of our big tree outside the garage. The sound here in the living room was like a BOMB going off! I went out and had to go tell Jim and June, because they lost their phone.

There were a bunch of wires -- some live -- down. A couple were hanging across the street that runs in front of our house.

So I phone Marilyn at work to come home (she was supposed to be late tonight), and while driving here she watches a tree come down and crush the SUV next to her! She was forever getting here.

Meanwhile we have a fire truck come. They're examining the tree and some others. And the truck is in the middle of the street. Yikes!!!

Now my neighbors are out there CUTTING UP the downed branches! Think HUGE limbs, as big around as telephone poles! Marilyn is finally safely home, and we're sitting in the house listening to the wind roaring and howling all around the house and down the fireplace!

Just hoping and praying we don't lose power.

I'm still shaking. I was outside in the wind for ages with tons of neighbors, directing traffic, moving branches and so on. It's such a scary mess!!!

More later, if we don't lose power!

Glad she got home OK!
I hope your power stays on!

Well the wind has quit howling and there is still power out all over. I hope you did not lose yours. We had ours go off three times, just enough to mess up the clocks and then came right back on. It was pretty scary. Hope your cold did not get worse with you out in the cold. Talk to you tomorrow.

That sounds really dire, Charlie. I hope all is MUCH calmer now.
Scary, especially with the downed wires.
