Saturday: Sunny, But Cold!
brr, cold

Before I discuss today, I need to mention yesterday -- Friday, November 14.

Marilyn and I got to work a bit late, which meant we didn't have any issues with ice on the roads. It was very cold yesterday, but a beautiful, sunny day!

The most exciting moment of the day happened at 11:00, when Marilyn signed her contract. I actually got photos this time around. She and Jeff did the signing in her office, with our President Frank there as a witness -- along with me, of course!

Her contract runs for three years, and she got some nice additions that made her very happy. I'm really proud of her. She really earns her money and other benefits, of course, but she's well compensated for her work.

My entire day was wrapped up with IT. It was finally time to get Jeff his new iPad. Christine got iTunes on his desktop, then together we got his first iPad backed up. It was more drama than expected. His iPad was full of kids games that his children use. We had to delete quite a few things to do the backup.

Then I phoned and chatted with someone at the Apple store, to confirm what we were buying. Finally in the afternoon, Christine and I walked over to get it. We got the NEW iPad Air2 -- which, by the way, is just being called the iPad Air (replacing the original one, which is being phased out). That caused a bunch of drama at one point, because the packaging didn't indicate that it WAS an iPad Air2!!!

The other major issue? They apparently don't make a keyboard that fits this iPad. We got the generic bluetooth keyboard that Apple makes, but frankly it sucks. Marilyn got one ages ago, and it doesn't stay constantly connected to the iPad. Jeff's been using a Zagg case and keyboard unit (combined) for his iPad2. And Marilyn has a Logotech keyboard for her iPad Air. But neither of these fit the new one, which is thinner.

Can you believe they'd have an iPad without a keyboard that fits it?

Anyway, it's hard to believe, I'm sure, but I spent hours doing the backup, getting the iPad and restoring things to it. Plus I need to do some additional work on Monday (some items that didn't get backed up.)

We went to the Pioneer Methodist Church Bazaar at 12:30 today. Cousin Linda was there, and Marilyn treated us all to lunch. We always have lunch when we attend. Our neighbor Jim was there, working in the kitchen. And we saw a lot of people we knew. Plus I ran into Gladys, another neighbor I often see there. She and I had a long visit, as we hadn't talked in some time. I was glad to find out she wasn't moving, they just had been remodeling their bathroom.

Cousin Linda is difficult to visit with. She keeps going over the same topics again and again. Anyway, it was good to spend some time with her.

The rest of the day was quiet. We spent it playing with our iPads, reading, watching TV and sleepimg! Just a great day!

But very cold! Thankfully, I didn't notice any high winds, like they've said we'd have this weekend.

We need to work part of the day on Monday. And I'm training a new person on Tuesday.

I've been interested in the iPad Air (2), but the keyboard thing is one of the big things holding me back. My big iPad I have a keyboard/cover combination that is almost always what I use with it. I wouldn't want to give that up.

So, let me know how it goes with the regular one. That didn't seem a well fitting solution to me.
Maybe a third party will make one...

Glad you went to lunch at the bazaar. Too bad with cousin Linda but I am sure she was happy to see you both. We had a great day at Salem and Larry had a super card. He won the whole event and made quite a bit of money and points. I had a fair morning but great afternoon and got money and points. Mady did not bet any points but her attitude is so good and everyone loves having her play. Nancy had a bad day but we were able to sit together and that was nice. Her boy friend came over just before we were going to leave for home. He is darling and sure does not look like he is 92. He seemed very happy to meet us all and it made Nancy very happy. Eugene got money and points and so did Larry, John and Jay. So our club did very well. We met at the Fire House and it was a super location. The tournament director from Salem retired from there and set it up for us.
