Revenge is Back (Season 4) -- Stayed in Portland

I slept in this morning, and it was heaven, frankly. I was up late re-watching "The Group," the 1966 movie that focuses on the 1930's and 40's. The cast is amazing, the script is fascinating and every time I come across it playing on TV, I simply can't stop watching, no matter how tired I am. If you've never seen it, I highly recommend you give it a try. As a period piece, it doesn't need to hold up against modern films. Even if you have seen it, it's certainly worth watching again. I have no idea how many times I've seen it in my life.

The last time I came across it I downloaded the Kindle book to read, and did exactly that. So last night I pulled it up and read a bunch again. (smile) The book is also delightful, if you're looking for a good read.

Marilyn and I hung around today, playing online and watching TV. We talked about driving to the beach house, then decided not to. We also talked about driving to Seattle, for the hell of it. Maybe another time...

We did go out to get a bite to eat this evening, and spent most of the time talking about "Revenge." The season premiere was tonight, so we knew we'd be heading home from the restaurant to watch it.

Potential Spoiler!!!

Ir you watch "Revenge," you know that David Clarke showed up in the Season 3 finale, stabbing Conrad Grayson. From the beginning of the show, Conrad has been our favorite character -- head and shoulders above any other character on the series. We were very unhappy when he got stabbed, but hoped they would either let him disappear, or not be killed. Or if he had to be killed, we wanted to see a headstone, with his full name and birth date. They couldn't have written him off worse than they did, I'm afraid. Very disappointing.

I won't tell any other details, so it's not much spoiling. The show was fine, I guess. The writers have done better. But it was fine, I guess. No less realistic than other times. For example, Jack managed to become a cop in the past six months -- going from arrested to rookie cop. I could pick apart more elements, but whatever.

We're thinking we'll go to our beach house next weekend, when we'll hopefully be less tired.

Oh! And Hector came today to do the gutters and the yard. He didn't get it all done, so will need to come back again. But he got a good start on the tons of leaves. And he was glad he'd done the gutters again, because they were really bad!

And that was Sunday...
