Good Day at the Office? YES!!!

I had a very BUSY day, today! Everything seemed to be happening almost on top of everything else!

Started my day going to coffee with the new intern, Kory -- plus Rich, Steven and Marilyn (she paid for all of us). We were funny and irreverent and I think Kory was pleasantly surprised! He asked before we headed out if he should bring a note pad to 'take notes,' and I laughed and said, 'no' -- we are quite rowdy when going for Starbucks! Hahaha.

Then it was time to train Kory -- and it went exceptionally well! Partly because he's so good -- and partly because I was really on my game (training-wise) today. (smile) Mike (who sits right next to Kory) was paying a lot of attention to the training and even asked me some questions. He got trained 'with' Erin (the intern who quit after two days) -- and I think he was distracted by her inability to focus... So that was a good thing!

After that I headed over to get some lunch for both Marilyn and me (she had me get her two boiled eggs -- seriously!). When I got back there was no time to eat, because our 1:00 appointment was half an hour early!

This was our all-important meeting with Richard (who is on our Board) and Colby about doing an IT assessment to be used for applying for a grant. That meeting was quite long, but very informative!

For those people wondering, Colby said there's no reason to upgrade computers running on Windows XP -- as long as they're working fine, all will be well. This is especially true if you're running a good firewall (so you don't have to worry about security issues) -- and we certainly do at the festival.

I'm very hopeful about the grant, but certainly not counting on it... Any amount of assistance would be HUGE for us, but we've done fine so far, so...

Still, it's lovely to get attention to our needs, I have to say.

After that I wolfed down lunch, because I needed to have another training session. This time with Marissa on how to do the eNewsletter (now that she's replaced Caitlin who was previously being trained). I found some errors in the templates, so I need to 'tweak' all five of these. It's no big deal -- I just have to find TIME to do it! The next eNewsletter will go next Thursday (April 10), so there's some time. I also need to get notes together on how to use Cooler email. I'll worry about it after this weekend.

Speaking of this weekend, this is Marilyn's BIRTHDAY WEEKEND. She's got a meeting tomorrow morning, then she's taking the afternoon off. We're now thinking we won't leave tomorrow for the beach -- instead we'd like to maybe go to a movie tomorrow night and leave Friday morning for the beach. Even if we don't go down tomorrow, we'll still get FOUR nights at the beach, which is a lot for us! We're not coming back until Tuesday morning (Monday is her actual bday) -- she has something in the afternoon, and is also doing a speaking engagement Tuesday night. I'm glad she's not having to drive home on her actual birthday (!!!), so it's all very good!

I was hoping maybe June and Jim could drive down one day (Saturday or Sunday) and spend some time and then go to dinner -- Marilyn and I wanted to celebrate BOTH Jim's birthday (we never did that yet) and her bday at the same time. But Jim sounded doubtful on the phone when I spoke to him today.

I called hoping to reach June and maybe see her today, but she'd been out in the morning and was probably tired out from that... I miss talking to her!

Oh! After training Marissa, Marilyn had a meeting cancel, so she was able to drive me home before heading off for her hair appointment.

I was thinking about coloring my own hair, but that didn't end up happening. I got on a lengthy phone call with Donn, telling him details of the meeting today -- and discussing the spreadsheets he's been working on for me to send to Colby and Richard... I need to do some tweak, then I'll email those to them tomorrow.

What else?

Oh! We went shopping to Walmart tonight to pick up a few things -- and to give me a chance to get Marilyn her birthday presents (and cards) from ME! I got her four styluses (I looked up the plural for stylus!), a little Supergirl doll, some new razors and some special English shaving oil.

That's it for today, I think. I was amazingly upbeat, in spite of our late day yesterday. Just shows that you never know! I'd been worried I wouldn't be at my best today -- needlessly, as it turns out.
