Home Sick Today... Fighting a Mild Cold...

The sore throat is probably the worst part of this mild cold. Yes, I'm sneezing and am stuffed up. But it's not terrible. I'm really TIRED, so I've been actually staying down at least part of the day, sleeping...

Again, it's very weird to read "The Stand" (by Stephen King) when you've got any illness that's like the superflu in that book! Hahahahahaha. (yikes) Still reading and enjoying it -- it's a book that holds up very nicely...

I did get up this morning and get some website stuff done for the festival -- I had employment stuff that needed to get up pronto (!!!). Plus changes to the Auction page (it's nearly here!).

I didn't really work on the eNewsletter today, though, which is BAD. It needs to go out Thursday (!!!), and generally that means it should be DONE on Tuesday and ready to be reviewed on Wednesday. But obviously I'll need to work on it and get it done tomorrow (Wednesday), instead. I just don't think I'm going to be sitting up working on it tonight, to be honest...

I went out to the store very briefly today. Comfy clothes and no makeup (at least I was clean and had combed my hair!), but I just didn't care. Sister Sue took me so I could pick up Henry's pills from the vet and get a couple things at Freddies that I needed. Happily, it didn't take long. But she also bought me Starbucks, so I had an extra-hot chai latte, which is so nice when I have a sore throat...

Tried to reach Hector today about the gutters -- no response. Really??? Very frustrating. So I've tried to contact Sandy via Facebook. I don't know what to do when I can never reach him. (sigh)

Tried to reach Kris today about Marilyn's computer and status of the phone system fix. Again, no response! I've sent him emails -- hopefully I'll hear back...

When I talked on the phone to Jeff today, I could barely understand a word he said (!!!). Those damn phones at work are just a mess!!!

I feel Marilyn and I didn't end up going to the Willamette Writers gathering tonight. The speaker was local author, Gregory Nokes, who was speaking about the challenges of researching obscure historical events and of contriving believable scenes in historical accounts. This is a subject that really interests both Marilyn and me! We love historical research done for writing (something we're doing constantly). Damn, my being sick spoiled us going... So annoying!

I made soup for dinner: Curry chicken with carrots. But it didn't turn out as well as in the past. I always use a boxed soup as a stock (Butternut Squash), and the one I had this time was a new brand. It was way too sweet. I usually heat the boxed soup, dice up and add white meat from a chicken, dice and add carrots and season with a TON of curry. It makes a nice meal for cool autumn weather -- and can really make you break out in a nice sweat after you eat it! (smile) Yes, it's not really homemade in the traditional sense -- I don't actually create the entire thing from scratch. But who has time for that? I think this shortcut works quite nicely, really. And it's much nicer than just having the soup straight from the box...

Well, back to bed! I should try and go to the office tomorrow -- we have another website meeting and I feel I really need to be there! And it's not like I'm dying, after all. There's another website meeting on Friday, as well.
