Staff Party Day!

I should be taking the time to download photos from my camera and share -- I'm just too damn lazy to bother. Hahahahahahaha. I guess I'm firmly in vacation mode now!

Last night? It took me until past 1:00 a.m. to get the garbage and recycling done. Then I needed to wash my hair for today (so I didn't need to bother this morning). I was beyond cranky and exhausted by the time I got done...

But sleeping in this morning was a very good thing! We both woke up sore, though -- and still tired. Tennis yesterday really hit some muscles that we haven't been exercising in ages.

We should have been to Sue and Dennis' house by 11:00 a.m., but didn't make it there until nearly 11:30. Still, people arrive at differing times -- and some drop by late -- so no worries.

You wouldn't think you could start out before noon drinking, but most of us did. (grin) So many of us were having Bloody Caesars, a drink Dennis likes to make for 'breakfast' consumption. Here's what I found about it: The Bloody Caesar is a cocktail created and primarily consumed in Canada, which typically contains vodka, Clamato, hot sauce and Worcestershire sauce.

Although there was a lot of drinking going on during the day, no one abused alcohol. There were TONS of kids there and some adults who never had a sip of booze. Both Marilyn and I avoided even getting a buzz on, which was fine, considering the heat! But it was nice to relax with a variety of adult beverages and relax. There was also a lot of good food and good company. They have a great pool, so many people were in the pool for much of the day. And Sue had three different cakes to finish things up.

I did take some photos -- including some with my phone, which allowed me to Instagram for both the festival and myself. We had a great turnout, too. Only one of the regular staff was missing (she's on vacation) -- except for Mark, who hasn't attended one of these, to date. Much of the seasonal staff was there, too, except for Clay (who had to work) and Emily (away on vacation). There were some Directors there, as well (Robert and Mark).

Sue gave us tours of her amazing house that's recently had a major renovation! She was her own contractor, driving the entire job. They resurfaced around the pool in the backyard and added a new fabulous bar that's an incredible weather-proof structure that now includes a granite bar and big screen TV, with a huge stainless ice storage area, sink, fridge and more. Wow.

In the house the kitchen was completely done over and is amazing! So are the three bathrooms in the house! And they made Dennis' office just wonderful! And repainted almost every room, I think. And this house was really nice before all of this work!

Marilyn and I left the party around 3:30 p.m. (not the last to leave this year), managing to avoid the worst of rush hour traffic, happily. We came home and went down for naps, which pretty much lasted on off for the rest of the day, mixed with some game playing, reading and TV watching. We're geared up for another week of vacation, and really ready for it!

Anyway, one of these days I'll get back to sharing photos. I just wish it wasn't so hard to do here at LiveJournal... (sigh)

In spite of being sore, I can't wait to get back to playing more tennis! Yesterday was fun and exciting at the same time. (I like to think our friend Mitch would approve... smile...)
