A New Month: Welcome, July!

Well, Marilyn and I actually managed to survive June 2013. How about that? There were times I think we both wondered if we would. (grin) A tough month!

I also managed to blog every day except two this year. Last year was BAD: I only blogged one day in the entire month of June! I'm glad to be back on task again this year. As a matter of fact, I didn't miss a day in January, February, March and April. And only two days in May. So I've only missed a total of four days all year, to date -- and half the year is officially over. Not bad, huh? (smile)

What do I hate about months and years where I don't blog regularly? Well, it's such a great way to track the day-to-day activities of my life! Here's a perfect example: Today we got this pamphlet from the vet that said Colin hadn't been in for a visit for more than a year. But we both KNEW that wasn't true! But we couldn't remember the exact date off the top of our heads. All I had to do was go to the 'vet' tag here -- and it took me to December 17, which is the day we took both boys in. That's exactly half a year plus two weeks -- which is considerably less than a year, mind you. And it took me less than a minute to find the information here at LJ. Isn't that something?

Marilyn and I both did the treadmill today. She did an hour an five minutes and I did an hour. We're on a mission to start getting back in shape!

Then we both showered and did our hair. And we finally went to get our pedicures, which we needed really bad. (Our toenails were really grown out!) After that we went out for dinner on the way home.

Marilyn has already been doing laundry today. Now I need to get some done. Our goal is to pack up and head for the beach house tomorrow. Sister Sue is coming down the next day, planning to stay two nights.

I've been trying to get June and Jim to come down and stay there, too, but I don't know if they will. They don't want to leave their cat home, and I don't blame them. I think I'm going to phone them and ask if they want to try bringing the Kitty with them. I suppose the three cats wouldn't get along all that well, but there's no reason their cat couldn't stay in my bedroom (which is where we would have them stay), if it wanted to. And often when people are in the house Colin will stay in Marilyn's bedroom. It's something to consider, anyway... Our cats travel fine (not great, but okay, anyway), and their cat is around the same age, so...

We'd just LOVE to have them come and stay! We'd like to avoid feeling BAD about Wayne not being there this year with the three of us (the way he was last year). We don't want to focus on the negative or feel sad...

Anyway, maybe they'll consider coming down for just the day on the Fourth. But the thing is, there's a PARADE in town on the Fourth -- and it would be fun if they could go with us to see it. We're thinking we can drive Sue in and plant her somewhere, so she can go, too. (Last year she couldn't face the walking, so she stayed home alone and missed it.) It's not a big deal, really, but it is fun.

And there are FIREWORKS that night, which are fun to see! Again, no big deal if we miss them, but fun to go if we can...

Sue really wants to play cribbage with Jim and visit with him. She had a lot of fun the last time we did that...

I need to call them...

Okay, it's 45 minutes later! I phoned June, but it looks like they won't be coming. I'm not going to let that disappoint me. They need to do what's right for THEM. And we all need to be happy with whatever we do. We wanted them to come because we love them -- and they're more than friends, they're really like family. But we want them to feel good about whatever they do.

Hopefully we'll all enjoy the holiday, wherever each of us might be...

On that note, I'm off to see if Marilyn wants to watch a movie or something. Or to play more with Instagram (I'm so hooked!).
