Another Busy Day (Home Office, This Time...)

Marilyn came home LATE again, for the record. So we had another late dinner (past 10:00 p.m.). But it was yummy. I'd planned for fish (making a trip on my bike to get cocktail sauce, as we were out of it and Marilyn likes to use it). But at the last minute I suggested refried bean tacos, so that's what we had. (I also fixed string beans, but we didn't eat them. I enjoy them as leftovers, so that's fine...)

Half of my day was spent on eNewsletter or eNewsletter-related work. I pushed the button (so to speak) on it at almost exactly noon this time around. I had a lot of eyes on the final draft -- and Eleanor was again impressive, finding little things that no one else had noticed! I love how she's just put a fine-toothed comb to the website since being on Staff -- and found some things that haven't been changed for two years or more! Incredible work. And she just loves both the website and the eNewsletters and is very complimentary about both all the time. It blows me away!

I got her a card today and plan to give it to her with a gift card inside. I want to really say 'thank you' in a meaningful way. It's hard to believe that she's a seasonal employee and so dedicated. Sometimes seasonal people aren't that invested... Of course, we've had AMAZING experiences with seasonal employees, so this isn't the first time I've been impressed. But it's never something that should be taken for granted...

We finally got a temporary fix for a PDF coupon that needed to go up on the website prior to sending the eNewsletter. It didn't turn out as nice as I might hope, so I'm waiting on the replacement from the Sponsor (who normally provides it for us). Emily helped me out with that -- she's another delightful seasonal employee, by the way!

Sister Sue and I went to The Dollar Tree today and got some cards and a few other things. It's always nice to see her. She got her hair colored and permed and it looked really lovely!

As I mentioned yesterday, I got the sequel to "Sleepers," by Jacqueline Druga. So I've started reading "Sleepers 2." So far, so good. It seems a bit choppy to me. And I've no clue where the author is going with the story. I'd hoped the second book would be better than the first, but I'm not sure that's the case here. I guess we'll see...

We watched "Hannibal" tonight. It's really an interesting TV series. Mads Mikkelsen is especially effective as Dr. Hannibal Lecter. And you can't help but love Laurence Fishburne as Special Agent-in-Charge Jack Crawford. (As an aside, I loved the novel "Hannibal"... Mitch's mother, Audrey, gave me that book in hardback -- so I still have it somewhere. Not sure if it's here, or at the beach house.)

Bad News About My Bike: I rode my bike to go for cocktail sauce (as I mentioned above). Then I decided to get some exercise, riding in the neighborhood. My back tire blew out and I got a flat (!!!). So I was forced to push it back home again. The only good news was that I wasn't all that far from home when it happened... (sigh)

Now I'll need to get it BACK in to the bike shop, again. But neighbor Jim said he might be able to help me. Yes, yes -- I could push it all the way to the shop. But Jim says he has a bike carrier he can put on the car to transport it. So maybe we'll try it this Saturday...

Of course, we have WORK on Saturday! But not until late afternoon. I don't know if Marilyn is thinking about going to the office before that, though. Anyway, if I can't do it Saturday, I'll try next week. No rush. It's just that I was getting back to riding again, and I hate not to be able to do that when I feel like it and can find the time.

I'm SORE from riding, by the way -- because I'm out of shape. I really NEED this exercise and want to keep it up. Marilyn and I have been trying pretty hard to stick with healthy eating for months now. So getting the proper exercise is the next big step in improving my health.

Sleep is another important element, so I'm headed that way now! (It's nearing midnight.)

Oh! I met a new neighbor today: Fern. She and her husband Chris live over on Wabash. She was looking for her missing kitty -- and it sounds like her cat looks a lot like Kittie Scarlett did (small, black and very fluffy). She mentioned the coyote in the neighborhood -- and wondered if it could have eaten her cat. Very possible, actually! We've been dealing with the coyote for some time -- and Animal Control won't do anything about it. I talked to Fern for some time. It was lovely meeting another neighbor...

I hope all is well with all of you!
