Arcadia Book... Plus Work at the Office...

This evening Marilyn and I worked for several hours on the festival's Arcadia book, reading over and correcting the galleys -- which need to go back to the publisher TOMORROW (!!!). I was laughing really hard and certain things -- and enjoying my first time reading over the captions for all the many photos. What a TON of work went in to this project (much of it done by Marilyn) -- and how rewarding it's going to be to have this book in our hands soon.

Marilyn has her first speaking engagement about the new book next Wednesday night. Interestingly enough, we're having a media event at the office EARLY Wednesday morning -- so that's going to be one very long day! I'm going to have to postpone my dental appointment until the following Wednesday, because I don't see any way to get to my appointment from the office and then back to the office again afterwards... (sigh) I guess I need to talk to the specialist on Tuesday and see if I can wait -- or if I absolutely need to go and get something done to the tooth he'll be working on...

We went to get Marilyn's curling iron this morning at a shop out in Gresham. Thankfully they had the right one so we don't have to try and get it online... While there, we got Starbucks, which was nice.

Then we headed in to the office. Marilyn worked on her PowerPoint (for the upcoming presentations about the book), while I worked on finishing up all the computer setups I'd been working on last Friday...

Aside from setting up Profiles -- as I usually do -- we moved a bunch of stations around! Shelley is now inside the finance office (and we made a bunch of changes in that room!). Megan is set up at Shelley's old location (she needs a new monitor -- hopefully dual monitors first thing tomorrow). Where I had originally planned to put Megan, I moved Intern Stephanie. Her spot is now overflow space for Caroll (Steven's assistant), as she's the only assistant who has to sit in an Intern space (so she's has two, rather than one). I also cleared out Sara's space and set it up for Emily.

I put some time in trying to straighten out the MESS in the finance office -- some from moving Shelley (without her being around to help) and some that was left behind by Rosanna. The room still needs a TON of organization (cleaning, filing and clearing out) -- and I'm going to offer to help Shelley with this task. I did give her a head start, though -- because it was pretty bad on both Friday and Saturday...

Any second now I need to go and wash my hair to get ready for work tomorrow. It's nice to have the manicure and pedicure -- I love how both look! I even wore sandals today so I could enjoy the pedicure...

Tomorrow I train both Megan and Emily. I'll have to take them to coffee alone, I guess, as Rich is out of the office at a work-related conference (with Steven). Training days are always busy and take a lot of concentration. I keep meaning to get my notes in better order, but I never seem to find the spare TIME to do that! Oh well. Happily I've been doing it for so long that it's almost second nature...

Tuesday I'll go to work so I'm downtown for my dental appointment. I also have the next Princess to announce at the website -- and unfortunately that happens WHILE I'm at my 1:00 appointment (the announcement is at 1:30). Isn't that how things always go?

Wednesday is the long day I mentioned above... I'm excited to attend Marilyn's speaking event...

I'm disappointed I didn't hear from Donn today about the equipment. Hopefully he bought the new monitors -- or at least a few of them. I really want them tomorrow, if possible!

In non-work related news (grin), we did watch "The Walking Dead" tonight (because of working on the book and when we had our dinner, we had to wait until the 9:30 airing). I won't spoil in case some of you haven't seen it -- but it was an interesting episode! After it got over I went right back to proofing the Arcadia book, again...

I did finally get some dishes done yesterday -- I'd been gathering them all week. (sigh) I'm doing another load before heading to bed tonight.

Health-wise, my GERD seems really under control right now (knock on wood). All I'm taking is maybe a Pepcid some days -- and other times nothing. My blood sugar remains really good, too. I need to set up to see Leslie (the nurse practitioner) sometime soon -- I've just been swamped at work and dealing with all this dental stuff, so it's not that easy. I'm still supposed to see a doctor at the Oregon Foot Clinic (for a diabetic foot exam). And now I need to go to the Gastroenterology clinic, too... I just don't know how to find the TIME for everything (!!!).

Well, being busy is a good thing! (smile)

Off to wash my hair...
