Busy, CRAZY Day -- Power Outage in Downtown Portland!!!

To work at 7:00 a.m. -- home by just past 9:00 p.m. Did we plan it that way?

No.

Well, the early morning was a given: Marilyn had Executive Committee meeting this morning. And we knew we'd be home late, because she had the Sister City meeting at City Hall tonight.

But during that evening meeting, I got a phone call on my cell from Mark. He was at the office and the power was out -- except that there were lights flickering on and off and on and off. Awful!

We left the Sister City meeting right away to head back to the office -- walking (we'd walked over). Imagine NO traffic lights -- and many of the buildings were totally dark, while some were partially lit. It was AWFUL walking through the streets with all that traffic! They could barely see us on foot.

We got back to the office and had to deal with the power outage. I can't really discuss our issues in detail here, but it was bad news. We couldn't leave the office for ages. Mark was there with another man (someone he hopes to work with on video stuff). That man left and the three of us hung out. Then Jeff came -- not too after the power was restored.

Before we left the Server did come back up -- and some of the computers were on, too. But I just tried to Remote to the office (to my computer) and I was unable to get in. For all I know the power could have gone OUT again. I also tried to call the office -- and the phones are out. So I suspect we're having issues with the Phone Server. (sigh)

At least two of the computers were making terrible noises, so they may have been blown out by this situation. I don't even want to speculate tonight, because there's nothing I can do about it right now. We'll deal with it in the morning...

We stopped to eat at the Burrito House on the way home -- really hoping to have margaritas (which we felt we'd earned after today!). But HELL no -- they were closing (!!!) when we arrived. Seriously??? It's Fat Tuesday! You'd think they could stay open later than 9:00...

At least they made us up some tacos -- after we stood there waiting around for ten damn minutes (I have no clue WHY they did fix the order we gave them when we walked in, but what the hell)!!! Very annoying end to the day, to say the least.

And, yes, Lent starts tomorrow.

So we're home and we've eaten (we were starved out) -- and I watched "The Walking Dead" from Sunday (finally) -- while Marilyn fell asleep during it (little wonder).

It was a hard, busy, crazy day. Marilyn got major news today that I can't share just yet. I managed to get two people trained. Rich, Marilyn, Jeff and I went to KPTV so Jeff could get training as a 'weather man' -- more about this later on. It's going to be very cool...

Tomorrow morning we're at City Hall by 9:30. So frankly I just want to get some sleep. I should be checking to see that my uniform is ready to wear (it's a uniform event). So I'd better just close for today.

Oh! I almost forgot to mention: Rich and I did take time to go to lunch at Paddy's today -- I'd never been before, and it was really fun. Good food (I had the meatloaf).

I'm leaving stuff out, but oh well. Tomorrow is another busy day -- with City Hall in the morning (as I said). Plus I see my dentist for a root canal in the afternoon. (sigh)

God alone knows what I'll be facing in the way of IT issues tomorrow morning!!! I hope nothing too serious, but who can tell? The fact that I can't Remote in isn't promising. Damn power outage anyway...

Bed is quite appealing!
