I just had to add a POST SCRIPT to my Thursday night entry. (smile)
Hey, Dad? (Dad is in heaven. I'm sure he can tune in for this message.) Guess what? It was POURING down rain tonight! So I got drenched while doing the garbage and recycling!
Dad and I had a running joke that it ALWAYS rained on garbage night! Hahaha. There's just something about it. Like God making a joke, or something. Insult to injury. You know what I mean!
Well, I'm not mad at God. But I'm praying hard to St. Jude that he'll protect our house! I really don't want to end up with flooding...
Sister Sue's friend Larry wrote her that he'd had flooding. He hadn't had it for something like 10 years (!!!), but he had it now. I'm telling you, I should get down on my knees for this one. There's so much wet out there everywhere. It's a real mess!
I don't think I'm ready to face another flood in the house. It's more than the work (which is a ton). It's the idea that things might get ruined. That the carpet downstairs could end up with mold (even though we use mold spray to treat it).
Poor old house! It's just a shame that the seal on the foundation ever got broken in the first place...
Marilyn and I LOVE our home. It's not fancy. Not by a long run. We have old hardwood floors that are pretty bad in the office and my bedroom (and not in the best shape in the living room). The kitchen is old, with bad counters and old cabinets. And the floor is linoleum, with some bad spots (dents and tears). But honestly, I love that room, even so!
It's funny how much you can love a house. It's like a living, breathing thing to me. We've been living here for more than 20 years now and I thank God every day for this house. We don't need perfect. We just want our house to hang in there!
Well, I need to get off to bed now. I hope Dad is having a good laugh in heaven. (And if you can't laugh in heaven, why go there?)
I've dried off and am really ready for bed now! Good night, friends!
