For the record, NO, you cannot use borax for killing ants INSIDE the house where your pets might come into contact with it. Apparently some people use borax for killing fleas, by actually dusting their carpets and rugs! But if your cat walks on that, then licks his paws, he can be poisoned by it. And borax can be quite toxic, especially for cats. Nor should a cat inhale the dust, it's bad for their lungs.
So, because the health of our cats is important to us, I'm not risking it. I know some people say that borax is NOT that toxic and the chances are very slim that any pet would be poisoned. By why take a chance?
So I did make a borax and sugar mixture (with warm water), and use it OUTSIDE the house. And I used more of the poison you sprinkle around, too. And I got down inside the house on my hands and knees and just killed TON of ants in my bathroom, one damn ant at a time.
It was hot in the house -- and far hotter outside. I was a mess when I got done spending hours of my day messing with ant battles. So far I feel like the ants are winning the war. I was just in my bathroom and there were still several ants there! But far less than earlier today, at least. And none in the kitchen right now, thankfully. I haven't seen any in the family room today (woo hoo). But I suspect they're around! Damn ants.
The high today was 97' -- and it certainly felt like it! Especially when I was chasing ants.
And when sister Sue and I went shopping earlier, too (she has no air conditioning to speak of in her car right now -- reminds me of Mom's car, which never had it).
Dinner was leftovers from last night. Not that great, really. We like that food, but didn't really feel like it for two days in a row. Oh well.
Marilyn had a very busy day at work, by the way. Lots of meetings.
Fixed another minor issue on the computer for June today. Thankfully nothing serious, so it was easy.
Never heard from Donn if he's coming in tomorrow or not. (sigh)
It looks like we're leaving work EARLY tomorrow in order to go to a movie with Larry and sister Sue, something we've had planned (without details) since early in the month. He doesn't get to Portland very often, so it's nice we can get together. Marilyn's going to actually let us both take off for this, which is nice.
I'm ready for my evening nap, that's for sure. I wish I'd gotten around to doing my hair today. I'll need to wash it before bed. I also wish I'd done my pills today. It takes ages to set them all up (morning and night), because I have so many... (sigh)
I can't think what else I'm forgetting to mention, so it must not be too important.
Good night, all!
