As silly as that title sounds, sometimes a really Satisfying Laundry Moment
can really make your day!!!
Today I was catching up some laundry in the laundry room -- and I found a pair of Marilyn's pants lying on top of the washing machine. Beige pants, stained all over with dark pink splotches! So I found some stain remover and started the process to see if I could actually get the stains out or not. I don't recall right now WHICH stain remover I used. It was a liquid and it was the last of the bottle, so it hadn't gotten pretty thick (almost like a gel). I put this like a pre-treatment on every pink spot so I could let it sit and go to work. Then later I did a first wash. We use ALL laundry soap (Free -- no scent). And I also like to use 20 Mule Team Borax (which is an all natural laundry booster that helps lift stains and control odors).
The first wash did pretty good, but I repeated the process -- plus used these stain cloths that I've had forever. They look like purple wash cloths (I don't remember what color they started out). You just put them in the wash and they help lift colors from the wash water before they get into your clothes. I'd LOVE to have that version again, but I don't think they make them anymore. But there are others sort of like it. Believe it or not, they do work!
After the second washing the stains were GONE! I couldn't believe it! I didn't do a very good job of describing what I did (rubbing the stain stuff on each spot, using my fingers to make sure everything was covered and had soaked in). But I'm pleased it worked out! Cold/Warm for the water, by the way.
So as silly as it might sound, this is one of Marilyn's favorite pairs of pants, so I'm really happy they are now stain free, and just like new!
Other things I did today: Sister Sue and I went shopping. I got some extra cat food for the coming weekend. (Plus a few other small items.) I did more laundry. I took care of several emails for work. I wrote to my friend Shari a couple of times. I wrote to Larry about LiveJournal. (I need to write to Donn about that, too!) I picked up the kitchen. I wrote more than 2,000 words on a fictional story I've been working on. And I cooked dinner.
I'm ready for a nap, that's for sure!
