Saturday: Clown Training and the Sing Off
star, gold star

Today was another busy day. Marilyn left in the morning to join the Court and with Rich give them Media Training. Marilyn said it went well, bust ran long.

This morning while she was gone I did 20 minutes on the treadmill, wanting to get a start on my steps.

I mentioned that I've started a new book. It's "Grandma Gatewood's Walk: The Inspiring Story of the Woman Who Saved the Appalachian Trail," by author Ben Montgomery. Ben had access to Emma Gatewood’s diaries, trail journals and correspondence. He also interviewed the surviving members of her family, plus people she met while on her hike. It's no "Wild," but it's an interesting read, so far. Right now with our focus on hiking, it's a delight to read books about hiking.

Marilyn picked me up, then we dropped by the office, where I discovered an IT issue (!!!). There was some piece of equipment in the IT room screaming, loudly. I tried to figure it out, but I didn't have much time. So I phoned Kris and left him a message. Then I texted him, as well.

Marilyn and I dashed to Starbuck's, before heading to the Clown class. Angel set up chairs for us, then Marilyn spoke to the new 2015 clowns. (I also said a few words to them.) Then we all watched "From One Rose," while the clowns ate their lunch. (The movie was created our Centennial year, and Marilyn was the Executive Producer.) The film features a series of photos that tells a story that explains some of the history of the festival. (Tons of those photos were provided by us, from among family pictures.)

After that we came home and caught a nap before heading over to the Sing Off. It was a wonderful event. Marilyn and I sat with Christine and Zander. Below are the results.

First Place: Mixolydians (from Sherwood HS)
Second Place: Soul’d Out (from Wilsonville HS)
Third Place: Nothing But Treble (from Westview HS)
Best Soloist: Carmen Groedlwegae (Mixolydians)
Best Vocal Percussionist: Hannah Evans (Nothing But Treble)
Best Arrangement: Ethan Conray (Singing in the Rain)
Best Choreography: Soul’d Out

It was a very BUSY and long day. Time for bed! We have Clown graduation tomorrow...

Fitbit Update: Marilyn did 10,173 steps today. She was really racing on the treadmill to finish 10,000 before midnight. I only did 7,027 steps, but considering my current goal is 5,000 steps a day, I'm okay with that. I would really like to increase my average, though. According to the Fitbit App, my current average is 7,000 steps a day. I'm good with that. Marilyn's current average is 8,000. I think we're doing pretty good with our Fitbits.

Every time you talk about clown class it sounds really, really cool to me. Hopefully it is as good as it sounds!

Boy you have both been so busy. Glad it is all going well. The sing off sounded like it was great and the clowns look super. Good new group.
