Busy Day at Work
busy-bee

It was a VERY busy day at work today. But before I go there, I need to add a line or two about yesterday, and the wind storm!

It was such a relief to finally get Marilyn home, safe and sound! But the blasts of wind were just shaking the house some of the time!

The amazing thing was our wonderful neighbors, the response of city services (such as the fire truck) and our power company, PGE! They ended up with FOUR trucks here around midnight (!!!) and still had trucks working down the street at 3:00 in the morning, if you can believe that!

The neighbors had the alley cleared out before we went to bed (admittedly quite late), and they started in again very early this morning. By the time we got home tonight, they had done ALL the debris (!!!) in the alley and our yard, plus all the debris in June and Jim's yard -- and we're discussing a HUGE TON of stuff! It was astounding to see!

Additional bad news? Before leaving the house this morning to head for work, Marilyn and I discover we've lost another huge tree (!!!) in our back yard -- and it's leaning against the neighbor's house back there (yes, another neighbor!). I feel really sad about it, because we both loved that tree so much. It's up from the roots, and I can't imagine what it will cost to have it removed!

More bad news: Our insurance will NOT pay for any of this -- it's all 'act of God' stuff. So we're going to need to figure out a way to pay for it. In the case of June and Jim, we want to pay for their ruined fence. And out back, it's about safely removing that tree. No clue what it will all cost...

Ironic, as Marilyn was signing the papers today for our refinancing -- we did that to be able to pay off our credit card debt. When it comes to $$$, it's always something.

Ultimately, NOBODY was hurt, thank God! And the trees didn't take out any houses. So it certainly could have been worse. God was very good to us!

As for today, it was another very busy day. Both Marilyn and I are still dealing with our flu. She still has a cough. We're both exhausted. I don't know if I've mentioned this, but we've had backaches, too. Such awful pain. And we get so easily worn out from everything...

Just getting up and ready for work today was really hard.

Anyway, got to work and we both were immediately very busy. I had Donn there. We met about our current projects. Marilyn had a meeting, then an interview (she seemed like a nice girl).

By noon, we wanted to get lunch, but we were so busy. I finally dashed out for food, but by the time I got back there was no time to eat before our joint, important afternoon meeting, with Tim. After the three of us met, I took him upstairs to show numerous things about website coding, eNewsletter stuff, blogging and so on. (I guess Marilyn ate a bit while I was with Tim.)

The meeting went long, but went well.

After it was over, I ate my own sandwich.

Then we both had quite a bit more to get done. We were the last two to leave the office. It was a long day...

I'm delighted that Donn got a check today. It needed to be pushed through, and Shelley did that! Marilyn took the blame with Jeff, who was upset about the timing. She mentioned that the invoices were held up on her desk because of her recent illness.

Good interactions with Christine today. And Donn and I had a meeting with Carol that went really well.

This weekend Donn will work on Christine's computer -- and Tanya's, if there's time. Next weekend it will be Carol's computer.

We got home and were amazed by all that was done here with the tree out front. I need to thank everyone for theit help, which just makes Marilyn and me feel humble and so grateful. Our neighbors are the very BEST -- and are wonderful people and friends!

I didn't last very long. I was too worn out to do much. We watched a little TV, then I headed to bed for a nap. Marilyn was interacting with some friends online, but she told me she fell asleep with her stylus in her hand!

Good news? I got a 'Winter Wonderland' pass for sister Sue to give to Candy and Nicole! We sometimes get these for free (a few of them) for our staff, so I asked for one. Sue will get it tomorrow.

Now I'm blogging before bed. We have social activities all three days coming up, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. And we must go shopping tomorrow. But I really hope we'll get a bunch of SLEEP this weekend! I'd love to finally shake this damn bug.

And that's it for now! Hope I didn't forget anything important.

I'm just glad nobody was hurt by the falling trees. Tree removal is pricey but maybe somebody could benefit from the firewood?

Glad the big picture, everyone is okay, is good. What a HUGE mess to clean up though ....

LA got an actual tornado, during their portion of the wind storm ... what a BIG Pineapple Express it turned into.

Well you know that you are blessed that the tree did not fall on your house or June and Jims house either. I wish June and Jim would just tell you not to worry about the fence as they have so much more money than the two of you, but I know you want to pay for some of the damage. Thank goodness that none of you were hurt. I wish this could have not happened to you when you were refinancing to try and get your finances in check. Money is always a problem. I got my oil changed this week and must do about $350 repair to the front end of my car. I knew this was coming but why now with Christmas and everything else. Oh well I am so lucky to have the car and would not if my sisters had not helped me and Charles and LaRene. It seems like I should maybe think about selling the car and stop driving but I can not do that right now. I am praying for both of you to please get well and me too. It has been too long being sick.
